I knew spring was around the corner when I went into one of my favorite restuarants ordered a Sam Winter Ale to only be offered a delicious Sam White Ale....

It pours a smooth orange color with a nice white head. A delicious Wit Bier with many different flavors in one. I enjoy the drinkability of this beer in the spring and wish it was around all year. Definitely a beer you can enjoy from a bottle or from a tap. I highly recommend this beer and mot brews from Sam Adams

A- bright cloudy golden apricot with a short lived creamy bone white head and chunks of yeast in the bottom. leaves a few lil dots of lace and settles to a ring with a shape in the middle that really looks like the thundercats logo haha. darker in color than i expected, and i like that.

S- fruity wheat, citrus, orange lemon, peel, apricot, coriander for sure, vanilla, some pale malt, what could be noble hops in the nose might be one of the 20 billion spices in here, SO i decided to go to the website and see.

this is what sam put in his witbier: "The spice blend includes orange and lemon peel, dried plum, grains of paradise, coriander, anise, hibiscus, rose hips, tamarind, and vanilla."

T- the dried plum and the tamarind, i guess, is what tastes like apricot, maybe in combination with the citrus peels. as for the anise, i don't really get it, however some of those licorice aromas exist in coriander which stands out alone with the fruit and vanilla. grains of paradise add a soft peppercorn spiciness in the background, and rose hips with a thick malty floral smell, especially as it warms. and the hibiscus, i was never really inclined to eat one, so i don't even know. and one can only guess what else is in here cuz 10 spices is alot of stuff. and as i get down to the bottom of the glass, i can taste those zippy hops and some cereal grains in the finish.

MF- great body for a witbier, i don't know if it's true to style, but i like it. u can tell it's full if malt & wheat and maybe even chew it. juicy and refreshing with mid-low carbonation.

D- having tried alot of lighter beers and springtime ales, white ales, etc. this is one of my favorites. so fruit and floral, it would go good with breakfast instead of orange juice and it probably has just as much vitamin C.

This was an all-around good beer. Very light and quaffable, one of the few beers that I could drink 6 of in a single sitting without getting bored.

Very hazy, yellow orange in color. Nice wheat flavor with some spice and orange zest.

Retired now apparently, I had thought this was coming after the Noble Pils, I guess the Noble Pils replaced it. While both are good, I'd prefer that SA had stayed with the White Ale to be honest.

Sam Adams White pours a hazy, slightly cloudy yellow/orange with a nice white head. The aroma is sweet with plenty of coriander and a vegetal character. The flavor is crisp and sweet with a nice soft wheat flavor. There is a nice complex blend of spices, definitely more than the typical coriander and orange peel. Flowery flavor underscores the sweetness and fruitiness of the beer. This is a really good offering from Sam Adams, and an interesting take on the style.

Poured a very hazy orange color, with a medium white head - looks beautiful so far. Aroma is a citrusy, spiced, and yeasty. Carbonation is light but still present. The flavor is really impressive - spicy all 'round with a pleasant citrus bite and a soft buttery yeast flavor. The aftertaste is full of the same spice. Very crisp and refreshing, this is a great new seasonal for Sam Adam's and I am looking forward to drinking it in warmer weather.

A - Pours a lovely hazy golden color, with a reasonable head that settles back in a second. A little bit of lacing, but that's hit or miss. There's very little sediment in the bottom of the glass, even with the swirl and pour, but clearly there's tons of stuff in suspension. Interesting effect.

S - A slight wheaty, citrus smell. Typical of the style, hardly any hop character at all.

T - In a word: well-balanced. Sweet notes of honey and cloves mix with the citrus of orange and coriander, and the fullness of the wheat with just enough hops to add a noticeable bitterness. The spiciness is just ever-so-slightly overdone, crowding out the other flavors, otherwise this would easily be a 5.

M - Finish is clean and crisp, with that same slight hoppy note in the aftertaste. Very well-carbonated - I had a sip hit my sinuses wrong and really light up my evening.

D - This beer is absolutely fantastic any time of day when in season. Morning, afternoon, night, and with any meal, I could happily put away several of these at a time. I suspect the spiciness would begin to bother after a while, but by the time that happens you'll be too toasted to care.

At a local Friday's very glad when the served it without the ctrus wedge you get with some whites and hefe's. Very cloudy muddy brown water with a delicate white hat the laces the whole 22 oz glass. Smell is of wheat and hints of sulfur and bigger notes of citrus. Jim and Co. did this one right in the taste, not to sulfury form the yeast and nice well blended taste of white and subte citrus tones and a spice from a low dose of hops. Great mouthfeel and very drinkable, in fact I am going back tonight for more.

Poured into a Samuel Adams glass

A: Pours a cloudy, yellowish-orange haze. Finger width head that fades quickly, with next to no lacing left behind.

S: Very nice scent of wheat, hops, citrus, coriander - this is going to be a good one, I can tell right away.

T: Very pleasant. Very well balanced combination of wheat and hops with the citrus making its presence felt.

M: Medium bodied and moderately carbonated. Very crisp and finishes smooth

D: Good drinkability. Found myself wanting more.

Very good brew again from the BBC.

Is it just me or is this really hard to find? My first taste of Sam Adams White came late one night when my car broke down and I was stranded waiting for a ride in the middle of nowhere Mass. Luckily after hiking a mile or so to a closed down ski resort, I came upon a group of ski instructors celebrating the end of the season, and was offered one of these.
Mmm good beer. Very light and fruity, at first I had to check that what I was given was actually beer. But nevertheless, I am still hunting this beer down to try again...

Pours a hazy golden color with some head and lacing.

Smell is very spicy to say the least, lots going on, orange peel, lemon zest, coriander, pretty citrus, a full aroma for this witbier.

Taste is similar to the smell, very citrusy and spicy, lots of carbonation though typical of the style but could be toned down a bit, very light hop bitterness if any, crisp and easy drinking. Always a good seasonal from Sam Adams to look forward to.

I had this beer on-tap at several places in the area, most recently at the Roast House in East Providence, RI poured into a mug glass.

A: The beer is a hazy, light gold color, with a thin white head that fades quickly and leaves a little bit of lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of spices, hops, yeast and malt, but the smell isn’t very strong.

T: The flavor is bready & spicy, with the familiar Sam Adams hops signature and a strong lemon sweetness, which stays in the after-taste.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium-to-heavy body, medium carbonation, clean finish.

D: This beer goes down very easily and isn’t very filling, but I could see how some may not like the strength of the sweetness and spice.

This one is my favorite out of the four Sam Adams Seasonals, especially on-tap. Also if you’re buying bottles, it’s definitely worth stocking up on it around late-May early June when the stores are trying to get rid of their leftovers.

Pours a slightly cloudy pale yellow color with a two finger head. The aroma is of citrus fruits. You can't really smell much else. The taste is a crisp citrus flavor. The taste is very clean and very well balanced, there is more citrus than hops. The mouthfeel is on par with most sam adams beers, it is moderately carbonated. The drinkability is very high, you between the taste and the lightness of the beer you can drink many of these.

A - Look's almost like a glass of OJ you'd have in the morning. Very cloudy, maybe some pulp, with a slight head that keeps through out.

S - Smells good, light wheat, orange, coriander. A very fresh beer with a very plesant nose.

T - Same as the nose but a bit richer, the fruit and spice is well balanced and complementary. A wonderful taste when you don't feel like another Double Russian Imperial Coffee Chocolate Bourbon Stout.

M - Decently thick in the mouth, a carbonated wit. The fruit and spice keep your mouth fresh to say the least.

D - I don't know why people are giving this beer a bum deal, the drinkablity is fantastic, I bought a 12 pack, and could see myself taking down all of it in a night and love every second of it.

People are rating this low and I don't know why, I think they are losing sight that we comapre against style and not all of beerdom. When it comes to great tasting, drinkable wit's, this is about as good as it gets. I wish this was around for summer also and not just spring.

A: dark golden color with a milky white fog like the name implies

S: malty sweet smell with subtle fruity notes

T: there is an array of spiciness in this beer, fruity notes like pair and plum also come to mind

M: surprisingly full-bodied and very smooth

D: Great springtime beer, the spiciness lends itself to cool evenings but its overall refreshing taste is great for the warming spring weather.

Feb. 1st – is it spring already? But this was a refreshing brew on this 55 degree day in STL. I was looking forward to it , and it did not disappoint.

Excellent pour, amber/org with lots of wheaty sediment in there. Great lacing all the way down. Nice orange/malt aroma, and the quaff was well bodied and enjoyable – nice notes of coriander, winter spices and lemon. On tap this was a striking brew to behold.

A tad too much alcohol (5.2) for a *proper* session brew, but what the hell – close enough for government work. Drink ‘em up! Especially with the low American price versus an import – looking forward to getting the bottled version.

Color: Slightly Cloudy, Golden
Smell: Lemon, Coriander, orange, very distinctive
Taste: Peppery, with a strong coriander, with citrus notes, After a few pints the taste changes the peppery taste gives way to the citrusy splendor. I look forward to this beer's release year after year.

This stuff was excellent, but I wish I could find more. I haven't been able to find it in my area of Illinois for atleast a year. This reminds me of Celis White but alittle more complex--- and I like a beer with pleasant surprises...a very good citrus-based wheat.
And I am surprised by Adams this time, most of their stuff is average at best.
