12oz bottle, best by Jan 2013. Poured into mug.
A: Pours a clear brownish-red color, with a half finger of fine off-white head topping off the glass.
S: Toasty, sweet toffee malts with a heavy dose of the hazelnuts mentioned in the beer's name.
T: Hazelnut and toast are by far the two most predominant flavors here. There's a light, lingering caramel sweetness on the finish, with pleasant earthy, piny hop flavors providing balance throughout the taste. Light nuttiness shows up too.
M: Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth and quite creamy, with a lightly dry finish.
O: A tasty brown ale; near the end of my glass the hazelnut and sweet malty flavors combined to be a bit sweeter than I might have preferred, without a bitter flavor present to balance them. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the full bottle and was happy to try it as part of this fall's harvest 12-pack.
