Not a huge SA fan, bought the mixed twelve pack on a whim. This was the highlight of the pack. The nuttiness was just right and blended with the other flavors perfectly. The octoberfest was ok, as was the ipa, but this one was just right. Would buy a sixer of this for sure. Solid brew.

I'm not a big fan of hazelnut beers but this is pretty good, if not great and a bit simple.

Copper-brown, it has a medium pale tan head soon thinning to ring.

Aroma is strong toasty, slightly caramelised bread crust, barley with strong hazelnut, bit of wet bread & earth.

Taste is toasty caramelly-earhty up front with hazel soon joining. The hazelnut is firm but not overpowering, it's pretty balanced and his toasty-bitter-sweet finish and aftertaste.

Appearance:
Clear, deep mahogany body allows the active carbonation levels to take center stage. Respectable beige head hangs around for awhile before fading to a thin ring and leaving light lacing behind.

Aroma:
Hazelnut through and through. Light chocolate and english toffee notes sneak in. It's simple and effective.

Taste:
Honestly, you really need look no further than the aroma notes... Clean hazelnut, with light toasted peaty character. Chocolate is noticeable, but just barely.

Mouthfeel:
A bit thin, but creamy and easy to drink. Clean finish even a bit zesty.

Overall:
I was caught completely caught off guard with this one. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Easy to drink, tasty (so long as you enjoy hazelnut), and a super smooth body make this a fantastic. I found this in a sampler and have not seen it in its own sixer which is a bit disappointing - this deserves a slot on the shelf all to itself. At this point, I should probably mention the enjoy by date on the botte is January. I'm reviewing in Febuary. I can't wait to get my hands on this and see hw much better it will be "brewery fresh!"
