served in a sam adams perfect pint glass

A: Pours a very light golden color with just the gentlest haze. pours with two fingers of fluffy pure white head that dissipates at a reasonable rate, leaves a ton of lacing on the glass
S: nice light gentle scent, crisp with a light blueberry note like smushed blueberries, quite nice
T: begins with a nice bright note almost lemony, moves into a nice clean bright taste like a pilsener with hop bitterness and finishes with a lingering blueberry note that is quite gentle
M: medium carbonation tingle, good mouth feel and body leaves the mouth gently dry long after the finish
O: a very nice refreshing brew, going to be very nice when the hot summer weather rolls in, really enjoying this one right now

A nice crisp lager where the blueberries shine on the finish. Not the most complex beer, but clean and it delivers plenty of blueberry taste. I would pick this up again.

On tap at the Common Table.

The beer pours a hazy golden color with a white head. The aroma has a touch of biscuit malt, but what really comes through is a ton of sweet blueberries. The flavor is more of the same. The blueberry notes add some nice flavor, as well as a good bit of sugary sweetness. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a fairly hazy golden orange with a lot of rising bubbles. Big four finger white head with decent retention. Leaves a lot of creamy lacing around the glass.

Smell: A sweet and fairly tart aroma of blueberry fruit and bready malt. Upfront hints of fruity blueberry juice along with light hints of citrus orange. Sweet hints of honey. Bready malt hints of biscuit, grains, lager yeast, and cracker. Hops are very light. Very blueberry forward giving a sweet fruit cake like scent. Solid smell.

Taste: Like the smell, a sweet fruit forward taste of blueberries along with some citrus and bready malts. Lots of blueberry taste upfront followed by a decent citrus presence with notes of orange and lemon. Soft bready malts with notes of biscuit, lager yeast, wheat, grains, and cracker. Sweet notes of honey and sugar. A pretty decent fruit forward taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp, creamy, and very smooth.

Overall: A pretty decent fruit beer. Nice blueberry flavor and honey notes that avoid becoming too sweet.

Summer sampler complete with token fruit wheat fizzy beer to complement the Boston Lager, and the Summer Ale. This one pours bright golden with a slight haziness large slight off white head flowing nicely, leaves behind fine speckled lacing. Aroma gives off some tart notes of citrus and berry jam, pretty one noted sharp wheat accents. Flavor brings tart berry jam with sharp wheat ale acidity, biscuit dough yeast cake action complements with a hint of citrus in each sip. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with full on flowing carbonation not too spritzed up or overdone in anyway linger natural blueberry flavors between sips. Overall not my cup of tea part of a sampler refreshing summery it fills the quota and there's really nothing too off.

12 oz bottle, poured into a Samuel Adams pint glass

Appearance: Pours a pretty, hazy, golden amber with a slight, maybe a quarter of a finger of white head that quickly dissipated into a very thin covering of foam formed a thin lacing foam atop the beer.

Aroma: WOW!! Lots of bluleberry! Tons of it infact! Very fruity which practically overpowers any other aroma of the beer. It’s very bright and fresh, but you don’t get any beer smell, no malt or yeast, just blueberry. I like it. I like it a lot actually, but I wish BBC could’ve somehow gotten some more aroma of beer in there.

Taste: Wow! Like the aroma, you get lots of blueberry! The whole front end of this beer is all blueberry, very fresh and bright and crisp, but then comes the beer! After the blueberry fades, the classic flavors of lager beer comes through: malt, caramel, subtle hops. Very, very, tasty!

Mouthfeel: Thin to medium, with good carbonation.

Overall: I like this beer. It’s fruity without being overpowering, and nicely balanced with the bready flavors of beer. It makes a great summer beer!

12oz bottle, part of the summer mixed 12 pack, recently (and finally) made available in Alberta.

This beer pours a hazy, medium golden amber colour, with a fistful of puffy, densely foamy, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves some splattered, yet somewhat layered strips of sudsy lace around the glass as things duly recede.

It smells of sugary blueberries - almost ice-cream like - semi-sweet pale malt, a hint of equally saccharine citrus juice, further indistinct red fruity notes, and a cartoonish rock candy essence. Yeah. The taste is thankfully not quite as sweet from every damned direction, the blueberry and its friends taking a few steps back, allowing for a gritty, almost astringent graininess to emerge, both pale malt and wheat in origin, with the proclaimed citrus character sidling in there as well.

The bubbles are fairly tight, and not overly fun to play with, the body medium-light in weight, quite generically smooth, and strangely creamy (not just from the airy vector, either). It finishes still on the sweet side, the blueberries, to their credit, hanging on with vigor, alongside the lingering citrusy hops.

Nothing particularly complex, but hey, nothing off or pandering about this offering either, for that matter. If you like blueberries, and a swinging to and fro sweetness, then this one might be for you. Me, I can appreciate the fruitiness, and the attempt at balance here, so I will certainly pop the other one of these from the mixed pack on my sunny deck in the coming weeks.

Appearance - Pours a hazy, golden orange with a white, fluffy finger width head. Sub-par retention, leaving a thin layer of microbubbles on the surface, clumping up on the sides. Leaves fair lacing with good stick.

Smell - Moderate aroma, consisting of a predominant blueberry character. Slight grain sweetness.

Taste - Again, and as expected, blueberry is the predominant character. Slight grain notes. Touches of citrus on the back end provides a slight bitterness.

Mouthfeel - Light to medium body. Moderate carbonation with decent bite. Goes down easy. Dry finish.

Overall - Another fruity brew offering from Samuel Adams. If you like blueberries, you'll like this. Not overtly sweet, like some of the other blueberry beers on the market. Not as good as their Blackberry wit, but it beats the hell out of it's summer mix counterpart, Porch Rocker.

Pours a cloudy golden, with a nice white head and lovely, ornate lace.

Aroma is, unsurprisingly, heavy on the blueberry. Refreshing, light, and enticing.

Taste is nicely blueberry, but it's a pleasant natural flavor, rather than a weird or artificial one. Indeed, this one's summery, light, and very enjoyable. Sure, it's not super complex or heavy-duty, and seasoned hop-heads and beer nerds will turn up their noses here, but I like this Blueberry Hill Lager just fine, thanks.

12 oz bottle marked best before November. Beer pours very cloudy and yellow in color, with a thin white head. Serious aroma -- smells like opening a box of blueberry muffins -- would be great if it was time for breakfast, but as a beer it's kind of a turnoff. Fortunately the berries are mostly in the nose, not the flavor. Flavor is mild and mostly of a citrusy kind of lager, with a gentler hint of blueberry. Not terribly sweet for a fruit beer, though this is obviously no lambic.

As far as the Sam Adams Beers of Summer variety pack goes, this is, surprisingly, a stand out hit. Not a great beer, but at least it delivers what it promises.

I just got done cutting the grass and Sammy A's blueberry hill lager is great! The beer pours a hazy orange copper with white head that is lacing. The scent has the typical Sam Adams base with hints of blueberry. The first swig brought memories of blueberry pie...a biscuit base with blueberry fruit adornments. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall I think it is a great fruit style beer with without being over the top!!

poured into a pint glass. from the beers of summer variety pack.

A: straw colored. looks like honey. surprising, i expected it to be blue. hazy. bubbly. barely poured any head. faint, fizzy lacing.

S: blueberry. but not fresh blueberry. more like blueberry gelatin. probably residual from the fermentation process. that's about all i get from the smell, but it's pleasant and bold.

T: blueberry up front. pale malts. weak citrus hops on the finish. weak compared to the smell.

M: decent, well carbonated. light. a little watery.

O: definitely a novelty beer. liked the smell, but the taste was kind of disappointing. refreshing but i wouldn't seek it out.

I was really looking forward to a Sam Adams blueberry style brew. My expectations did not quite meet reality. however, this is still a good beer to have during the warmer months. I poured this brew into a pint glass and the first impression was awesome; a great murky yellow color with a thin head. The aroma was definitely blueberry. I thought the overall taste was a little lacking. I would prefer a stronger blueberry flavor vice a hint of the berry that this brew delivers.

Pours bronze with a pinky of pearl colored head.

S: Blueberry & grainy notes, some leafy hops once warm. Alright lacing & head retention

T: Follows the nose, slight lemony hop notes up front notes. Blueberry sweetness & tartness as this warms. Finishes dry, tart & sweet

MF: Light bodied, moderate carbonation

Very easy to drink, better than several other Blueberry beers, either ale or lager I've tried. My wife would love this, I will have no problem killing off the other 3 in this Summer variety case. The Blueberry in this doesn't seem forced, a pleasant suprise

Samuel Adams Blueberry Hill Lager brewed by Boston Beer Company with an ABV of 5.5% This brew pours out cloudy amber color with a small white head. Blueberry hill Lager is a unfiltered brew you can not see thought it. The smell is sweet with blueberries and a hit of grains. This brew is different from most brews on the market as far as the smell. It is not bad it is just different. The taste is mild with blueberries and that is about it. There is not much to the taste of this brew. This brew does go down smooth and clean. The mouthfeel is nice and clean, also refreshing. There is nothing overpowering in this brew; it has an ok balanace to it . I was hoping for more in this brew. Overall I'm giving this brew a solid 4 out 5.

Standard pry off bottle poured into a pint glass, the Blueberry Hill pours a lightly hazed deep straw in color and with half an inch of soapy white foam. Offers fair retention and some sticky lace.

Aroma of pale malt with some light citrus accompanying the more pleasant than anticipated blueberry character. Flavor follows suite with a subtle berry grain flavor, a lightly chalky aftertaste followed by a brief cleansing sweetness. Blueberry notes don't come across as artificial and are present yet not overdone in my view. Decent feel with a light grain character and ample carbonation. Interesting brew and not overdone. Subtle and pleasant yet with enough fruit character to keep it interesting. For a while anyway.

Was not sure about a beer with blueberry, but was pleasantly surprised by the refreshing taste
and flaver. A very enjoyable brew! The blueberry taste does not give a bad aftertaste and leaves a nice flaver of blueberry, as well as the flaver of a quality lager beer.

Pours a hazy golden straw color very much like a wheat brew. The white head is short and sudsy, leaving some lacing on the glass.

The aroma is faint. It is sweet and bready and has a blueberry muffin batter smell to it.

The taste has a slightly bigger blueberry muffin presence than the nose. Not as sweet and more muffin like. There is a light grainy note as well as some grassy hops. Okay, needs more blueberry and less grain.

The feel is light to moderate with moderate carbonation. Sweet on the palate but it is quite dry in the finish, almost astringent. Since it is a lager I would think it would be more crisp.

Another ho-hum fruit beer. The blueberry flavor isn't bad.

A- pours a slightly hazy golden-yellow color with a two-finger foamy white head that has good retention

S- crisp wheat with a hint of lemon, citrusy hops and sweet blueberries. The blueberries don't really smell artificial, which is a welcomed change from most blueberry beers

T- sweet and malty up front with some subtle citrusy hops kicking in mid-palate, then leading to sweet blueberry juice and finishing with crisp wheat

M- medium body with moderate carbonation, foamy mouthfeel, smooth and crisp finish, high drinkability

O- a super drinkable fruit beer that is great for summer, the blueberries taste pretty authentic as well, well done

Bottle: Poured a light yellow color lager with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of fake blueberry syrup with overly sweet malt base. Taste is also dominated by this fake blueberry syrup with overly sweet aftertaste. Body is light with good carbonation. This one is a bit disappointing coming from Sam Adams.

Pours a hazed golden... short lasting white head... decent spotty lacing.

The nose delivers... essence of blueberry cobbler.

Plenty of berry presence on the palate, but thankfully isn't sweet at all.. instead a slightly doughy maltiness delivers the berries.

Body is light and effervescent..

Pretty damn drinkable surprisingly.. Not a "girl beer" by any stretch, but a pretty respectable fruit beer.

Cloudy gold topped by a solid slab of thick foam. Tart, juicy blueberry aromas upfront with a sort of creamy sweetness. A little less blueberry forward in the flavor...berry sweetness, grain, spiciness, and a citrusy touch near the end. Light, slightly acidic, and decently crisp. A decent warm weather drinker, but not something I need more than one of.
