From the 12 fl. oz. bottle with an expiration date of Nov 2015. Sampled on June 28, 2015.

The pour is a near headless yellow color.

Aroma of blueberry and roasted pale malts. Grainy too.

The body is light and refreshing.

The taste is toasted pale malts and a wheelbarrow of blueberry. Not overpower but decently balanced as far as the style goes. I love blueberries. I use eat them and cook with them. I just can't fathom the excitement of a blueberry lager though. But breweries keep making them. As far as that goes, it is what you expect.

Bottle from a lazy dog.
Deep golden color with a good sized long lasting bubbly white head. Big blueberry on the aroma, almost too much. The flavor is quite sweet, again big blueberry. Somewhat cloying, more like a wine cooler than a beer. Glad I only bought one.

Very syrupy. One of Sam Adams worst brew, in my opinion.

Not a big blueberry fan and it is also artificial tasting.

For sure a good summer flavor. Clean and easy drinking lager.

A nice crisp lager where the blueberries shine on the finish. Not the most complex beer, but clean and it delivers plenty of blueberry taste. I would pick this up again.

Nice and refreshing. Real nice tart, yet not too sweet blueberry taste. Really is rather weak and watery. However actually really hits the spot on a warm summers day, pretty good for what it is~

Another fine brew by Sam Adams and my very first blueberry beer. This stuff is fantastic! The blueberry isn't too overpowering, everything meshes together nicely. Highly drinkable!

9/14...pours hazy purplish color, some foam. Strong blueberry nose, sweet. Strong fruit taste - light tart, surrounded by bready malt that becomes sweet. Very fruity. One of the better fruit beers I've had recently.

APPEARANCE: pours a cloudy golden color.

OVERALL: this is the first blueberry beer I've had. It has a mild blueberry flavor, still a beer taste though. A good summer beer. Fairly good even with fruit taste.

I couldn't finish this beer. Ended up pouring it out as the blueberry mixed with hoppy bitterness left me highly disappointed. It had quite the unpleasant after taste and overall I wouldn't recommend this selection.

I have to say, I did not expect to like this beer. My experience with fruity beers had not been positive, but this beer was quite pleasant. Especially for a summer beer, this is refreshing and light. In smell, the blueberries come out overwhelmingly, but in taste, the blueberry notes are far more subtle. Likely not a beer I will buy again, but I enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone interested in trying fruit beers.

Single bottle from a summer mixed pack poured into a flute. Color is a hazy orange-yellow amber topped by a moderate amount of creamy white head. Aroma is rather unassuming and perhaps bland: Generic pale malt (a little husky), a whiff of grassy and hay-like noble hops and of course the expected blueberry, although this is subtle. On the palate, the latter comes across like a sweet jam rather than fresh fruit, which is OK in my book although the fruit effect does precious little to temper what I feel are some pretty astringent grainy notes in the background. As advertised, a little citrus emerges (lemon?) ... Highly carbonated and on the thin side, with a finish that is a tad medicinal, grass and bitter green fruit. Finish might be a strong suit here. I'd say the merit here is in the fruit being tastefully executed and the usual Sam Adams expertise with noble hopping. On the minus side of the ledger, I am not feeling the malts ... The grainy metallic note described earlier sticks out like a sore thumb. Not an essential offering from this brewery.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Shaker pint glass, "best before date" December 2014.

APPEARANCE: pours a cloudy golden color with one finger white head that dissipated slowly until a thin broken layer of bubbles remained, there was some lacing on the glass, average carbonation.

SMELL: not unexpectedly, it had a mild smell like sweet blueberries.

TASTE: the taste follows the nose, initially sweet malt then a mild blueberry flavor. There was very little hop profile. The 5.5% alcohol is imperceptible.

PALATE: medium carbonation and body for the style.

OVERALL: this is the first blueberry beer I've had, it was different and enjoyable but nothing special. I will probably not seek this out again.

Samuel Adams Blueberry Hill Lager brewed by Boston Beer Company with an ABV of 5.5% This brew pours out cloudy amber color with a small white head. Blueberry hill Lager is a unfiltered brew you can not see thought it. The smell is sweet with blueberries and a hit of grains. This brew is different from most brews on the market as far as the smell. It is not bad it is just different. The taste is mild with blueberries and that is about it. There is not much to the taste of this brew. This brew does go down smooth and clean. The mouthfeel is nice and clean, also refreshing. There is nothing overpowering in this brew; it has an ok balanace to it . I was hoping for more in this brew. Overall I'm giving this brew a solid 4 out 5.

Hazy dull orange body, topped by three fingers of white foam. Drippy lace bits.

Assertive, pleasant, not overly aggressive blueberry aroma.

Tastes like a soft helles or export lager, with a pleasant dash of blueberries.

Smooth mouthfeel.

Do not come to this expecting Boston Lager in a fifty/fifty mix with blueberry juice. There is a lot less malt, a whole lot less hops, and the blueberries are well balanced. It's a nice summer quaffer, but not something I'd load up on.

I was really looking forward to a Sam Adams blueberry style brew. My expectations did not quite meet reality. however, this is still a good beer to have during the warmer months. I poured this brew into a pint glass and the first impression was awesome; a great murky yellow color with a thin head. The aroma was definitely blueberry. I thought the overall taste was a little lacking. I would prefer a stronger blueberry flavor vice a hint of the berry that this brew delivers.

12 oz bottle poured into a lager glass.

A - Cloudy peach-mango. One inch head with good retention. Nice lacing throughout.

S - Fresh ripe blueberries. Outstanding!

T - Sweet malts, tettnang noble hops, and citrus dominate with a delicious blueberry finish.

M -Medium

O - Funny thing is that I'm not a huge blueberry fan. The berry taste does not dominate and is light & refreshing. I much prefer it over Sam's Cheery Wheat. Cheers!

This is rather a limpid pale gold beer that developed almost no head at all. The nose is what I expect from such things: frankenberry cereal, basically. The flavor as well: sickeningly sweet berryish beer with no other flavors. This is very badly made berry beer ever, way too sweet to finish.

12 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in a Samuel Adams perfect pint glass

A - It is golden in color with some straw highlights. It is topped with three inches of off-white head that readily clings to the sides of the glass.

S - Blueberry is the first aroma. Then I notice some lemon and citrus.

T - The taste starts out with blueberry. Then lemon zest and citrus come into play. The finish is fairly clean.

M - Thin to moderate

O - I like how the hops add lemon and citrus so this beer isn't overdone with blueberry. It is more enjoyable than I thought while celebrating the U.S. of A. declaring its independence.
