12 oz bottle marked best before November. Beer pours very cloudy and yellow in color, with a thin white head. Serious aroma -- smells like opening a box of blueberry muffins -- would be great if it was time for breakfast, but as a beer it's kind of a turnoff. Fortunately the berries are mostly in the nose, not the flavor. Flavor is mild and mostly of a citrusy kind of lager, with a gentler hint of blueberry. Not terribly sweet for a fruit beer, though this is obviously no lambic.

As far as the Sam Adams Beers of Summer variety pack goes, this is, surprisingly, a stand out hit. Not a great beer, but at least it delivers what it promises.

Pours a very slightly hazy golden yellow color, about half a finger of white head which fades quickly and leaves no lacing.

Smell has a subtle blueberry aroma mixed in the sweet malt.

Taste starts out with a sweet malt backing, a very artificial blueberry flavor melds in, finishes with a hopper finish than I would have thought but the bitterness seems a bit off when combined with the blueberry flavoring, carbonation is medium high.

Not much to write about, fairly bland for a fruit beer or other blueberry beers on the market.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a fairly hazy golden orange with a lot of rising bubbles. Big four finger white head with decent retention. Leaves a lot of creamy lacing around the glass.

Smell: A sweet and fairly tart aroma of blueberry fruit and bready malt. Upfront hints of fruity blueberry juice along with light hints of citrus orange. Sweet hints of honey. Bready malt hints of biscuit, grains, lager yeast, and cracker. Hops are very light. Very blueberry forward giving a sweet fruit cake like scent. Solid smell.

Taste: Like the smell, a sweet fruit forward taste of blueberries along with some citrus and bready malts. Lots of blueberry taste upfront followed by a decent citrus presence with notes of orange and lemon. Soft bready malts with notes of biscuit, lager yeast, wheat, grains, and cracker. Sweet notes of honey and sugar. A pretty decent fruit forward taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp, creamy, and very smooth.

Overall: A pretty decent fruit beer. Nice blueberry flavor and honey notes that avoid becoming too sweet.

I got this in a Samuel Adams variety pack and decided to give it a go, although fruit flavored beers are generally not my first pick.

A: Poured an amber color, head was frothy; a bit over a finger and dissipated within a minute to a light haze on just the surface of the beer without any lacing on the glass. Little carbonation is present.

S: A blueberry scent is very apparent with a light sweet malty undertones.

T: There is a very slight bitter sensation on the front end followed by a prominent sweet blueberry flavor. The blueberry is carried through the finish with sweet maltiness.

M: The body is smooth but it feels more carbonated in the mouth than what the beer shows. The blueberry flavor seems to be hidden a bit more when not sipping.

O: I find this blueberry beer to be better than most fruity beers I’ve tried, but certainly not the best. I would not go out of my way for this beer, but I wouldn’t complain if it was available. The blueberry flavor is nice, I’m glad it is a bit more subtle than a shock top, but it still tastes a bit artificial for my preference.
