Poured a clear, dark iced tea brown-amber. Nice light tan head that fades to a thin cap and ring.
Very malty aromas. Lots of caramel, dark fruits, brown sugar, alcohol, slight butteriness. Very little smokiness in the aroma.
Wow! The taste is completely different from the aroma. Lots of initial smokiness, some dark chocolate flavors. Still has a lot of the sweet malt flavors, but they become less important than in the aroma. Some iced tea flavors in there too. Bitterness seems to come from the smoked and roasted malts rather than lots of hops.
Medium-bodied. A little oily in the coating of the palate.
Quite drinkable. Good flavors for a night at the bar/pub.
The aroma prepares you for something different than what you get in the taste making for a very interesting beer.
