12oz bottle (best by June 2013) poured into a Shaker pint glass.
Appearance: Hazy golden-honey-amber color. Barest ring of lacing at the edge and no lacing.
Smell: Hint of citrus, some clean malt sweetness underneath. I got some floral notes as well. With a swirl I get some of that yeast mustiness.
Taste: Wheat tang, orange peel, some of that grain of paradise bitterness that I've noted before in Sam Adams beers.
Mouthfeel: Thick and heavy, with very fizzy carbonation. This is not what a witbier should be in mouthfeel - it's all wrong. Wits are supposed to be refreshing and airy, this is heavy and mega fizzy.
Overall / Drinkability: Overall it's just okay, although the appearance and mouthfeel are letdowns. Not a very good example of a wit. The flavor is good, but the rest of the beer isn't working. Drinkability is not there either, one is enough and I'm not real inclined to have another.
