Pours a very nice rich golden color, about that of good honey. I had about two fingers of frothy head that dissipated very slowly and left some decent lacing on the side of the glass, not too much and not too little. The beer is slightly hazy and full of carbonation.
Smell is very floral thanks to the hops, piney and sweet, a little grassy with some bread on the nose from the malt, though overall it's very clean. On tasting I immediately get a nice punch on the tongue from the hops, but it's not overpowering like some of the IPAs I've had. It's not as bitter as I would have expected, and the clean quality of the lager helps mitigate some of the stronger hop notes. The flowery hops fade away slowly, leaving sweetness that builds a bit, even after the swallow, and the grassy notes of the hops come back a little bit in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean with a nice bite from the carbonation. It's a little bit heavy for a lager but I'm not complaining. Imagine the Noble Pils but with more body.
This is a pretty nice drink that while not too surprising is something I could drink six of and still enjoy. Though I enjoy the Noble Pils better than this when I want a hoppy Sam Adams lager, this Double Agent IPL bridges the gap between lager and ale quite nicely. Give it a try, you may enjoy it.

There is not really an appropriate category under the BJCP for this, so I just rated it in terms of my enjoyment.
Appearance: Light, pale copper; clear. 2 fingers of light tan head, rocky. Ample, continuous carbonation with decent 1/8" retention. Outstanding lacing.
Aroma: Light, tart citrus. Smells like an APA. Really is a pleasant, hoppy, clean aroma.
Taste: Light, dry, clean arrival. Dry & salty across mid-palate. Solid, but not overpowering bitterness. Super-clean finish.
Mouthfeel: Light-to-mid weight. Crisp, clean, astringent.
Overall: This starts out like an APA, then when you expect that malt backbone to come in at the end, it just drops off. Despite that, it doesn't feel out of balance the way many west-coast IPA's do. Instead, it just feels sort of empty. Beautiful to look at & smell, and would certainly be a go-to for a hoppy session beer; but if drinking just one, it leaves a lot wanting.
