Appearance: Massive crown of dense, sticky white foam atop a slightly hazy light amber body. Patchy lacing like alien hieroglyphs adorns the glass walls. The head retention is slight, the carbonation faint.
Aroma: Prominent pine hops dominate the aroma, there are also pepper notes and a solid, though subdued caramel malt backdrop.
Taste: Opens with a burst of hops, more spicy and citric than the pine tar aroma would suggest. Juicy flavors of grapefruit and orange rind assail the palate. Soon after, there is a decent wave of toasted and caramel malt, though this seems merely an accompaniment to the solid hop presence. As the taste progresses, a strong grassy characteristic appears. Finishes with mild, lingering bitterness at the back of the mouth, and a slight, lingering sweetness.
Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, full, very pleasant.
Drinkability/notes: Very well-crafted, an over-the-top example of the style.
Presentation: packaged in a custom twelve-ounce brown glass long neck bottle with a pry-off crown, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

12oz bottle form the Hop Tour case
02/14/14 – standard pint glass
A: Copper color body with fine clarity and some off-white froth capping the top. Decent retention efforts on this one with a few broken lines of sticky lace left behind on the glass.
S: Smells of fruity hops mostly with some light malt cracker underneath. I get peach and tangerine notes with some grapefruit, pine, and mild ganja. Simcoes are coming out in the nose a bit. Not incredibly potent but a nice hoppy bloom is achieved.
T: Fruity hops of nectarine and grapefruit melds with soft pines and some herbals. Light breadiness from a malty cracker base and a fairly neutral yeast character. Moderate to low end of bitterness with no alcohol to report. A rather decent IPL but nothing of great significance really.
M: Light and creamy feel. A touch thin and watery but with a nice creamy consistency. Finishes rather clean with some light drying.
D: A decent IPL with some enjoyable hop flavors. Would not turn this one down as it was probably my favorite of the Hop Tour but it still leaves a little something more to be desired.
