Pours a brilliant golden light copper with a frothy half inch cream head that dissipates slowly, leaving sheets of lacing.

Aroma is evident as soon as the bottle is opened, with resiny and piney hops jumping to the forefront. Catty and dank notes mingle with grapefruit and lightly sweet caramel malt, adding complexity. Onion surfaces as it warms.

Flavor is fairly tart initially, with grapefruit and orange underlying bready, toasted caramel malt that dominates mid palate. The finish is lightly bitter. Tropical mango and grassy resin become evident, along with perfumey notes.

Body is moderate, with moderate carbonation and a bit of hop astringency. Crisp at the finish.

Aroma is very nice, with assertive, complex flavoring hops and a light malt backbone. Flavor falls a bit short, offering less complexity and a lack of bitterness for the style, which is ok by me.

12 oz bottle poured into a lager glass.

A - Light amber. Fluffy white head stays with excellent retention. Nice lacing.

S - Pine and sweet citrus.

T - Strong hop profile starts with pine and finishes with sweet citrus and malts. Bitter aftertaste mellows if one lets the beer sit several minutes.

M - Medium creamy

O - I've tried this 3 times before and it was always skunky and obnoxiously bitter. A very good lager, but be careful with the expiration date and where you buy it. Cheers!

There is not really an appropriate category under the BJCP for this, so I just rated it in terms of my enjoyment.

Appearance: Light, pale copper; clear. 2 fingers of light tan head, rocky. Ample, continuous carbonation with decent 1/8" retention. Outstanding lacing.

Aroma: Light, tart citrus. Smells like an APA. Really is a pleasant, hoppy, clean aroma.

Taste: Light, dry, clean arrival. Dry & salty across mid-palate. Solid, but not overpowering bitterness. Super-clean finish.

Mouthfeel: Light-to-mid weight. Crisp, clean, astringent.

Overall: This starts out like an APA, then when you expect that malt backbone to come in at the end, it just drops off. Despite that, it doesn't feel out of balance the way many west-coast IPA's do. Instead, it just feels sort of empty. Beautiful to look at & smell, and would certainly be a go-to for a hoppy session beer; but if drinking just one, it leaves a lot wanting.
