Double Agent IPL, from the Spring Thaw pack. In a clean Great Lakes pint.
Pours beautifully clear. Very orange color, more realistically light amber. Some lacing after the cap settled. Only hoisted about 1/4" of white sudsiness. Parades of rising bubbles.
Tropical fruits implied from a boisterous hop nose. Grapefruit, mango, tangerine, and light pine make a sweet-smelling quad combo. Crackery malts have a pilsner bready crispness that's light, but evident. No off-notes to speak of. Just a sweet hop aroma with some balancing grain. No real mustiness, either, like some lager yeasts can produce. Excellent.
Crisp hoppiness with more subtleties in the fruitiness. Hints of pineapple, grapefruit, orange, and spruce are detected, but not with the intensity that the nose was driving. I mean, c'mon! It's not an IPA, right? But, it is an IPL; and, to boot, this is a nice hoppy lager if I may say so myself. Light metal note rings out with the clean maltiness. Still not musty, however, there is a little more of that here in the taste. Finishes with moderate bitterness, cracked grain, and a clean tropical hop note.
Crisp feel with a jumpy carbonation level. The body isn't terribly thin, either. Pretty decent.
An American Pale Lager, eh? Yeah, this is the tits. Now, the fun part. I get to rate it to style...

12oz bottle form the Hop Tour case
02/14/14 – standard pint glass
A: Copper color body with fine clarity and some off-white froth capping the top. Decent retention efforts on this one with a few broken lines of sticky lace left behind on the glass.
S: Smells of fruity hops mostly with some light malt cracker underneath. I get peach and tangerine notes with some grapefruit, pine, and mild ganja. Simcoes are coming out in the nose a bit. Not incredibly potent but a nice hoppy bloom is achieved.
T: Fruity hops of nectarine and grapefruit melds with soft pines and some herbals. Light breadiness from a malty cracker base and a fairly neutral yeast character. Moderate to low end of bitterness with no alcohol to report. A rather decent IPL but nothing of great significance really.
M: Light and creamy feel. A touch thin and watery but with a nice creamy consistency. Finishes rather clean with some light drying.
D: A decent IPL with some enjoyable hop flavors. Would not turn this one down as it was probably my favorite of the Hop Tour but it still leaves a little something more to be desired.
