12oz bottle taken from a six-pack purchased at a local grocery store for $6.99. According to the label, this is “Best by November, 2013.”
Poured a clear, orangey amber color with a big, sudsy beige head that took it’s time to drop and left lots of lace on the sides of my glass.
Not as hoppy as, say, a typical West Coast IPA, but there’s quite a bit of piney hop aroma. Some bready malts can be scented as well.
As I expected, piney hops up front. It’s pretty well balanced with the malts. Finishes somewhat lager-like, but with more hop flavor than I was expecting, with a bit of a dry zap at the end.. Seems rather sessionable.
Slightly slick, oily mouthfeel, though much more toned down than most IPAs.
Seems like a good summer session beer, but with a little extra hop flavor – not a bad thing. Reminds me of Iron Goat’s ISA. Not bad at all.

There is not really an appropriate category under the BJCP for this, so I just rated it in terms of my enjoyment.
Appearance: Light, pale copper; clear. 2 fingers of light tan head, rocky. Ample, continuous carbonation with decent 1/8" retention. Outstanding lacing.
Aroma: Light, tart citrus. Smells like an APA. Really is a pleasant, hoppy, clean aroma.
Taste: Light, dry, clean arrival. Dry & salty across mid-palate. Solid, but not overpowering bitterness. Super-clean finish.
Mouthfeel: Light-to-mid weight. Crisp, clean, astringent.
Overall: This starts out like an APA, then when you expect that malt backbone to come in at the end, it just drops off. Despite that, it doesn't feel out of balance the way many west-coast IPA's do. Instead, it just feels sort of empty. Beautiful to look at & smell, and would certainly be a go-to for a hoppy session beer; but if drinking just one, it leaves a lot wanting.
