Pours a dark rich copper color. 1 finger head.
Smells subdued hoppiness. A little caramel.
Taste is a rich piney hop taste with a little caramel. A bit of that grapefruit bite.
As far as IPA's go it's very average. Not over bitter or malty. But nothing very extraordinary either. Fits the Sam Adams brand well. Might be a great beer for someone that is getting into IPA's for the first time.

Poured into becker pint glass; clear, deep orange with a sizable white fluffy head that fades after a bit leaving chunky lacing.
Smell is very nice; dank herbal scents and bitterness along with some lighter notes of citrus and other fruit.
Taste doesn't have that awesome hoppiness that the smell had, but it's a nice standard IPA flavor, more west-coast style. Clean generic malt base with a very nice dose of hops; mostly earthy bitterness with some herbal qualities, unfortunately the fruit in the nose doesn't come through very well.
Mouthfeel is well-carbonated and medium-light bodied.
Overall, I think I actually enjoyed this one from the bottle more than the glass. The fruit seemed to come through better; when this one is poured out, the nose writes checks that the taste can't cash. Still a step up from what other SA beers I've had though.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Best by Aug 2013.
A: Pours a clear amber with a large fairly dense off white head. Leaves some decent lacing all the way down. Lots of tiny bubble visible in the body. Head takes a while to dissipate.
S: Nice citrus hop aroma, the mosaic is an aromatic hop. Not an overdose like more IPA's, thinking this will be more balanced than a hopbomb. Malt adds some sweetness and breadiness.
T: Mosaic hops do pull through for a real pleasant citrusy hop. Bittering flavor is fairly dominate throughout which is good.
M: Medium body with ample carbonation. A bit sticky but sort of expected from these hops. Fairly easy drinking though.
Overall a real nice entry from Sam Adams. Love the focus on mosaic hops as they are an amazing new hop. Give this one a go.

Pretty deep amber and some lacing.
Bit of a tropical fruit head. Not too strong.
They went pretty malty on this one. The Mosaic hops I get that orange mandarin. Some grassy dirty bitterness.
Overall this one is a goo IPA. Looking for more fruit flavor maybe.

New copper penny in colour with a well-formed, moderately retentive, and lacy off-white head. Gentle grapefuit and pine aroma with a hint of nuts. Hop-forward with bright grapefruit and lemon notes, with the malts contributing a barely noticeable nutty character. Citrus lasts long into the finish, being joined by a leafy bitterness. Moderately bitter. Almost medium-bodied with low carbonation and a smooth, slightly slick mouthfeel. Not a hop bomb by any means, but a good easy drinking American-style IPA with a clean and simple citric profile.

Attractive clean amber, with a large head of off-white bubbles. Brilliant, showy, and intricate lace.
Nose is crisp citrus and pine hops. Quite appealing.
Taste is nicely hopped, with plenty of grapefruit and lemon citrus tones. I also get some peppery spice and some earthiness. Overall, a well-balanced and highly drinkable IPA -- not a hop bomb, but a well-done and session-worthy brew. Superb!

The Mosaic Version of the Lat 48 is great. The beer is very well balance and carries a nice pine scent and taste with a slight oily resin to it. The color clear copper with white head that is leaving a nice lace. The mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall the beer is another winner by Sammy A!

The mosaic hop....never heard of it...so when I read on the bottle this IPA was made with the mosaic hop I gladley picked it up for $7.97 at my neighborhood grocery store....(it was on sale)...
I waited until I installed a new sump pump under my house before I opened the first bottle..it was a way to reward myself for a successful home project...
I did not get a lot of aroma when i initially opened up the bottle...a little more when I poured it in a pint glass....a little more sweet (maybe some citrusy notes) than I remember the last time I drank a Sam Adams Latitude IPA.
This is a very well balance beer. There is a nice malty backbone-firm but not strong like the older IPA--but the hop characteristics are more pronounced and better defined. The cliche grapefruit and piney flavors are certainly there, but for some reason I tasted a bit of peach and sweet apple...that is what i enjoyed the most. To me, this Latitude IPA is much better than the elder.
Once again, Sam Adams matches body and ABV with great accuracy....and just enough bitterness lingers after the swallow to make you want another sip...this is a nice IPA for snobs and rookies alike.
I rate it 3.75
