A- Dark amber, almost red color. Poured a nice creamy 1 finger head with aggressive pour. Really nice lacing.
S- Big caramel up front. Orange, tropical fruit, floral, and earthy spice round it out.
T- Sweet caramel, citrus and pine up front, then joined by earthy hop spice mingling with grapefruit. Fairly hoppy bitterness on the finish leaving some grassy and woodsy notes behind.
M- Medium body with crisp carbonation. Slick and oily on the tongue. Drying finish.
O- Much better than I thought it was going to be! The only thing that threw me a little was the big bitterness on the finish. That being said, I would definitely drink this again if offered.

A-dark copper with a large off white head that leaves a heavy lace
S-hops is intense and had a citrus smell along with a grassy pine note
T- hops is the main flavor although the hop taste is not strong and the hops aftertaste is a bitter grassy pine taste that goes into the finish
M-medium body and high carbonation
O-the smell had an intense hop smell and made me ready for this beer, but the hop taste was not there like the smell

Sam Adams continues to put out good product after good product - The Latitude 48 IPA, from the Hopology collection does not disappoint.

This is by far the best looking brew I have had, possibly ever. It's a gorgeous, light-roasted caramel color with hints of amber in the light. The head is thick, off-whitish mixed with a very, very light tan and the head and lacing have staying power all the way to the bottom. The smell is not the normal overpowering IPA scent, but other than that, it's a definite IPA odor. Mouthfeel is silky with plenty of carbonation. The taste is smooth - not the normally bitter IPA, but less so and it goes down fast, if you're not careful. Overall, this might very well be the best offering I have had from Sam Adams.

Got this as part of the Fall pack, seeing that this was slightly changed from the original version. This was a bit dry and easygoing for an IPA and unlike the first time around, this didn't taste as nuanced. i still like the idea behind this beer but if I was given this blindfolded and not aware of what it was, I would have had a hard time guessing that this was a different version. The hops seemed a bit more generic here without feeling terribly full, bitter, or earthy. It was fine on its own but didn't have anything memorable about it.

Like the original, the pour was light brown with a somewhat frothy head that faded quickly and hardly any lacing to be seen. Light earthy and grapefruit hops, with just a hint of pine that shone for an instant before fading away. No orange and not much tangerine to be found in the citrus and hardly any burning could be discerned either. The carbonation was somewhat light and the body and mouthfeel both had some resin to it, but nothing waxy that endured. Only a faint floral and earthy bitterness lingered in the back, before another sip was needed to rejuvenate the taste of this.

The ABV was the same as the original and had I had another one of these in front of me, I could have easily downed that in my session as well. I wanted to like this beer but for some reason, it wasn't an improvement over the original. It's a good addition to the Fall pack but a bit out of place, as I think a darker and spicier beer would have rounded it out better. With so many IPA's out there, this would only be worth seeking out for extreme hopheads or Sam lovers. Otherwise, it just averaged out the Autumn offerings that Boston Brewing released this year..

Appearance - It is a nice amber color; with a thick head.

Smell - It has a flora, pine, and citrus( like a grapefruit ) smell to it.

Taste - The pine taste is the most dominant; with a grapefruit sourness to it.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied, and it sticks to your mouth afterwards.

Overall - I enjoyed this beer, but the pine taste can be strong.
