From a 750 ml bottle to a chalice.

Tetravis pours a grape/ruby color with a minimal head. The thin head that is there breaks quickly leaving nothing behind. The aroma is raisin and figs along with molasses and red wine. The taste carries on the nose and brings forward a bit of brown sugar and spice toward the tail. The feel is medium with higher carbonation.

An okay example of a quad, but not one I would revisit.

750ml bottle into a tulip. From notes.

A: Pour a dark ruby color; perhaps it's a bit too clear for my personal Belgian-style preference. The cream-colored head towers at four fingers high and has decent (if not spectacular) retention. Minor hints of lacing are left behind.

S: The aroma is reasonably loaded with figs and raisins. Letting it warm up some will show off the spicy yeast and oaky vanilla more and more. The fruit notes could be richer, but it's still a likable nose.

T: The first flavor is (dark) fruity. It finishes insanely oaky/buttery...at first; luckily it seems to back down after several sips. After a while, it's replaced with notes of vanilla and clove. Alcohol presence is mild and well integrated, appropriate for the style. I've had deeper, bigger tasting quads, but this one is shockingly easy to drink.

M: It has a decently thick body and isn't overly clean. Moderately dry finish. The mild carbonation and well-concealed alcohol helps to make it a pleasant sipper.

O: Not bad. The first sip is strange, but it balances out nicely after. With just a bit more in the way of defined flavor, it could genuinely be a great quad. In certain aspects, though, I liked it better than the oak-aged quad I had after this (Boulevard BBQ).

Appears a dense, dark mahogany with a creamy dense, off white head that slowly fades into a gentle cap. Scattered bits of lacing is left around the glass.
Smell is of caramel, toffee, prunes, grapes, light cocoa, over-ripe dates, vanilla, and brown sugar.
Taste is of the aromas. Lots of raisins pulling through with brown sugar.
Mouthfeel is full bodied, sugary, viscous, with plenty of heat stabbing the palate.

A: poured into a tulip to a deep brown with some ruby highlights. The beer is topped by a two finger light tan head with good retention and some lacing
S: smells of cloves, spicy yeast, plums, raisins and candi sugar
T: taste is some sweet dark fruits, raisins, sugary sweetness, spice from the yeast, clove but not really getting any barrel flavors. swallow brings a huge crash of dark fruits, caramel sweetness and clove.
M: it's honestly kind of light on the mouth with soft carbonation. I thought it would drink a bit bigger but it feels to be on the thin side.
O: This beer is kind of a trickster. It's very smooth and mild on the palate and then it has a huge smack of flavor on the swallow. Overall, not a bad beer but I think there are better representatives of the style.

Poured into a tulip glass

A: Plum colored with a one finger tan head that sits and sits. thick lacing.

S: Plums, dates, raisins, clove, Belgian yeast, molasses.

T: Follows nose with smooth, sweet Belgian yeast leading the way. Currants provide a rich backdrop. Molasses slides in. Just terrific. Alcohol isn't really noticed or felt...until later. Flavors improve as it warms.

M: Medium to heavy with thick, chewy and frothy carbonation.

O: Excellent. Tetravis is a fine example of why I love quads. Recommended.

750mL into a St. Bernardus chalice. Pours a slightly hazy amber mahogany w/ a khaki 1-finger head.

Aroma is sweet dates and figs, brown sugar, subtle spice. Bready dark malt and Belgian yeast.

Taste is bready and sweet; dark fruit, brown sugar, toffee, spice. 10% ABV is well hidden. Pretty much a standard quad here.

Mouthfeel is crisp and well carbonated, fairly light on the palate. Drinkable.

Overall a good, straightforward, no-nonsense quad.
