[Suggested Glassware: Weizen Glass]

The pour was a cloudy golden yellow with a large (2-3 finger) white pillowy head that lasted throughout and had excellent sticky lacing.

The aroma was of light bread and straw malts, grassy hops and an earthy yeast with notes of citrus (orange), coriander, rye and mild spiciness and a hint of a cardboard odor.

The taste was lightly acidic with a decent citrus presence and a touch rye in the beginning, becoming a tad yeasty with a substantial spicy ending. The flavor lasted a good long while proceeding the swallow, with a spicy citrus taste lingering on for a bit longer.

Mouthfeel was light in body with a watery, yet slightly dry texture and an almost lively carbonation.

Overall I found this brew to border on somewhat tasty and OK. It did posses a nice bold spiciness, but was lacking a decent wheat presence for a truly good Witbier...

Poured from a bottle into a Sam Adams glass.

Appearance: Straw amber color, slight haze. Thin white head.

Smell: Mostly malts and some hops.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Heavy grain taste and malts.

Overall: Ok brew. Not my first choice.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams "Perfect Pint" glass.

Appearance: Pours a somewhat hazy yellowish golden orange with a lot of rising bubbles. Huge five finger white head with good retention. Leaves a lot of creamy lacing around the glass.

Smell: A pretty spice forward aroma with wheat hints and citrus in the background. The sage and rye spice scent is pretty prominent upfront. Wheat and pale malt with hints of grains, biscuit, yeast, and cracker. Coriander spicing and some citrus hop hints of orange. Light hint of honey. Again the sage scent is prominent giving a spiced bread like aroma. Interesting and decent.

Taste: Like it smells, a very spice forward wheat beer taste with prominent notes of sage and rye spice. Upfront sage and spicy rye followed by wheat and pale malt. Notes of grains, biscuit, yeast, and cracker. Coriander spice along with citrus notes of orange and lemon. Slight taste of honey sweetness. The spices linger through the aftertaste and kind of hide the other wheat ale flavors in the background. Quite an interesting twist.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp, smooth, and fairly drying on the finish.

Overall: A unique twist on the wheat ale style. The spices kind of overpower everything but the taste is decent overall.

Pale copper hue with a bright white head forming fine speckled lacing with a hazed finish, the nose is full of sage and coriander. Spicy rye upfront in the nares with the sage/coriander combo not a bad beer. Flavor it's seeping through with all of those, let's put into perspective. Harsh spicy flavor full of a wave of coriander and sage with mixed vegetable green notes. Full bodied slick mouthfeel can't wish or wait for much more. Overall this beer is a job and somebody has got to do it.

12 oz bottle, poured into a Samuel Adams pint glass

Appearance: Pours a hazy, golden yellow, with a finger of off-white head that dissolved into a thin cloud of wispy foam that formed a halo of foam that gripped the sides of the glass and formed a cloud of lacy foam that collected in the center of the beer. Doesn’t look exactly like a Budweiser, but it’s close.

Aroma: Lots of hops, yeasts and citrus, and some spice. Specifically, I get orange, lemon, banana, coriander, sage and clove. Actually, it smells pretty nice.

Taste: Ok, very Belgian whit-style flavors. Yeasty, but there’s the bubble gum and clove and banana that’s so prevalent in whitbiers and weissbiers that I’m not a fan of. This beer also has a very long finish.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied, with some good carbonation to cleanse the palate and tickle the tastebuds.

Overall: I’m not a fan of this beer, mainly because I don’t like Belgian whitbiers and German weissbiers. That being said, the flavors are interesting and I’m assuming that it’s a pretty good example of what a Belgian-style whitbier is supposed to taste like.

Bright orange, clear with carbonation bubbles a plenty, and a nice white layer on top. Lace is spotty. Aroma is stinky wheat beer-like. Sweet mellowed out lemon, pizza dough. Not a lot going on yet still intriguing. Taste is similar with the added punch of tartness and spice. Texture is syrupy and a touch sandy. The carbonation tingle lasts through the finish.

I've concluded that this beer is ok. It doesn't really draw me in really...

Appearance - Pours hazy and golden with a white, finger width head. Fair retention.
Spotty lacing with fair stick.

Smell - Strong spice and herbal element, from the sage and the coriander.

Taste - The flavor is modest, but an herbal, slightly minty character makes up the bulk of the flavor. Light notes of black pepper-like spice from the rye. Touches on citrus at the back end.

Mouthfeel - Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Soft on the tongue. Goes down smooth and easy.

Overall - Decent brew, but it's not my bag. I wish breweries would stop using sage (or most herbs, really) in their beers. It just doesn't fit, in my opinion. For a beer with Rye in it's name, it's odd that the sage character is more prominently featured... but maybe that's just me. I wouldn't care to have this again.

As it stands right now, this is my favorite beer. Came home to my parents house after months away and found one in the refrigerator, haven't seen another one since. Wonderfully balanced and the flavor is near perfect. Good for any time of the year, summer especially good.

Pours a golden amber, with substantial head of fine, white carbonation. Nice spoke-style lace.

Nose is spicy. I get the sage and coriander most prominently, with a touch of the citrus peeking in underneath. Different, for sure.

Taste is more of the pungent, earthy spice. I get a hint of fruit at the finish, but it's pretty well obscured by the rye and spice.

Definitely a unique and unusual flavor combination, but this one's not a favorite I'd care to revisit.

12oz bottle best before December. Served in imperial pint glass. Beer is pale yellow and just slightly cloudy, with a very thin white head. Aroma is of lemon and orange peel, with a hint of coriander in the back, but nothing to blow away your senses. Ooh, very fizzy. And once I get through the intense carbonation the coriander flavor is really dominant. And past that the beer is way sweet. I find the herbaceousness is the harshest part of this beer, and along with the intense carbonation it makes for an outright unpleasant drink. I find myself wanting either higher more hops to up the raw IBUs of this beer, or simply higher attenuation to dry it out. Oh, and the label promised a rye beer, but there's only the most subtle rye flavor hiding behind all this sweetness and flavoring nonsense. I guess the idea of a rye wit was novel but I'll pass next time.

Trying the little white rye...its getting more and more difficult to separate the "white" ales and lagers from Sammy A. While the little white rye is slightly different than the others...it still follows the same path. The beer pours a semi-hazy yellow with thin white head that is not lacing. The smell has a spice and rye flare. The taste carries a orange peel coriander spice that clear the pallet quickly and finishes dry. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is ok....but not enough for me to go crazy and by a 6...12...or 24. The revolutionary rye was much better.

A: pale golden color. half a finger of thin, quickly dispersing head. lots of beautiful little bubbles rising to the top. hazy.

S: lemon or orange peel. citrusy. clean. rye with hints of herbs and spices. floral notes.

T: clean and crisp from the rye. spicy notes, coriander. very mild citrusy/floral character. not too sweet, but refreshing.

M: beautifully carbonated. light body. dry, crisp finish.

O: very pleasant. i enjoyed this beer with a pork chop dinner. a very understated brew, but very refreshing. not the most creative witbier. reminds me of a lighter, spicier blue moon.

For the style, i do not think this beer delivers anything spectacular. pours a pale golden color with a thin, white head that disappears quickly. initial pour provided an intriguing blast of sage, with citrus notes and some grain mixed in as well. across the palate i get less of the rounded wheat characteristics from other examples of this style, but it isn't substantially off. corriander spice and citurs are the primary flavors wafting across the palate as the beer goes down; would not have guessed there is rye in the mash. easy drinking and inoffensive, this beer would refresh on a summer afternoon, but won't cause revelation.

Pours a golden, slight hazy color( pretty clear for the style) with white head and dissipates rather fast. The smell is that of the traditional witbier with the addition of some other uncommon fruit and spices notes which gives it a pleasant aroma. The taste is is mostly of rye and sage than that of the traditional witbier. The mouth feel is rather watery and disappointing. I feel that the addition of sage and rye to a witbier is something that was a good idea, but could have had a better execution.

Pours bronze with a sliver if beige head. Average lacing & head retention

S: Coriander, white grape, orange peel

T: Follows the nose, grains of paradise & white pepper & orange peel. A kiss of honey dryness, orange peel & more grains of paradise as this warms. Finishes dry with some sweet tangerine notes & a touch of peppery spice, plus golden delcious apples & wheat tartness

MF: Medium bodied, slight carbonation, skews a tad sweet for the style

Drinks very easy, could do a few on a hot summer's day, I'd easily put it above Hooegarten Wit in it present state. This one exceeded my expectations

Yet another witbier from the folks at Sam Adams. 12 oz. bottle poured into a globe glass shows a hazed lemon amber with a half inch white cap. So so retention for the style.

Aroma of noble hops it seemed initially though an artificial lemon/flowery nature becomes more prominent as the cap settles. Sage comes across more as rosemary on the nose while the coriander and rye escape me when cold especially. Hop aroma adds a pine character with exposure. Rye texture is quite prominent in the taste while the lemon notes return on the finish. Rye gives the feel a fullish body while the citrus keeps it in check, though it does get a bit harsh for the style with warming. Overall pretty decent brew and a bit of a different tack.

As I poured this beer I instantly received a nice scent of citrus and a nice lite colored beer. The first sip was very refreshing and tasteful, with a nice fruity aftertaste. The flaver of this beer stayed with me for a long time before I took my next sip, I look for summer time and hot weather to try this again.

Pours a hazy golden color, bright when held up to light. The head was pure white and short. It quickly dissipated into a light ring.

The aroma is fragrant. Noticeable coriander and orange peel. Not too much coriander where it smells like celery. There is also a fairly strong lemon and pepper aroma. Overall it has a bright scent.

The taste is of a bready wheat and rye malt. Not sure the rye adds any flavor but seems to add some body. The coriander is a bit aggressive and borders on old celery. The orange peel adds some fruitiness. Peppery and grassy notes as well.

The feel is moderate with prickly carbonation. Sweet and spicy on the palate with enough of a grassy bitterness. A shade or two heftier than a traditional witbier.

A decent wit. The rye seems to mellow the coriander a bit but the beer still drinks bright

Poured from twelve ounce bottle into a pint glass. Summer variety pack.

Pours orange tinted gold. Low to no foam. Bready rye nose. Orange rind/coriander pokes through. Starts witbier and then takes a right turn with the sage/rye blend. Earthy. Chalky hefe close. Just hints of all the spices. Comes together well. Reviewers here seem to be more down than up, but I thought it was decent.

A- pours a hazy golden color with with a pretty good size white foamy head with decent retention.

S- spicy and peppery, coriander and orange peel, hay, sage, herbal. Interesting but not necessarily appealing

T- spicy rye definitely noticeable up front, dried sage and lemon notes, coriander, mostly malty.

M- medium body with crisp carbonation, foamy mouthfe with a crisp-yet-smooth finish

O- I just wasn't feeling this one, the sage notes left a funny aftertaste, not my favorite Sam Adams

Tried this one after the Revolutionary Rye and guess what? Just as bad as that one. I guess this was a second attempt at this beer with a new name, but it sure didn't improve.

Will never seek out, purchase, or drink again.

Bottle: Poured a light golden color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of coriander and sage is quite dominant with light sweet wheat malt notes also noticeable. Taste is also dominated by sage with quite a bit of coriander, light orange peel and light wheat malt with some light residual sugar notes. Body is light with good carbonation. Quite enjoyed the spice mix but a fuller malt profile would have also been beneficial.

From the summer mixpack.. hazed golden.. short lasting white head with little lacing.

The nose is sage heavy, I thought at first it was cardamom.. peppery and light sweet citrus zest..

Despite all the weird spices and herbs, I think this is pretty tasty..

Light body and medium carbonation make for a burpy brew, but it is still drinkable... would work well with authentic Thai.

Hazed yellow color under a quickly dissipating off-white head. Smells quite sage-y with a coriander and bright citrus backdrop. Herbal, peppery, and floral. A much more prominent grainy wheat element shows up mid-sip and less sage all around. Orange peel and coriander sweetness transition to a lavender-like floral note and faint ginger. An interesting take on the style for sure. I really like the fresh grain in the finish. Medium bodied and perhaps a touch undercarbonated, but a solid, refreshing beer overall.
