"Innocent yet beguiling, this hazy golden brew appears to e a classic witbier with its bright notes of orange citrus & coriander but there's a bit more mischief up its sleeve. Behind its sweet exterior lies an intriguing blend of white sage and rye for an earthy, spicy, and thoroughly refreshing brew." Brewed in the style of a Witbier with rye added. Available as a one-off beer in the summer variety pack.
Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint Glass. Served above 59º Fahrenheit.
(Appearance) Pours a crisp, frothed white head over a pale golden amber body. Carbonation is plentiful and vivacious, high clarity despite some mild haze. Retention is below average with no lacing. 3
(Smell) Coriander, wheat malts and some clean, biscuity, syrupy rye. Mild citrus peel employs some subtle bitterness. Potency is mild. 3.25
(Taste) Pale malts with a shallow coriander spiciness and a pinch of citrus peel. Thin, syrupy rye adds a touch of biscuit to an otherwise simple, thin witbier. Like most of Samuel Adams' witbiers, this is lacking in wheat malt presence which makes for a disappointingly shallow and uninteresting body that the rye doesn't really justify. 3
(Mouthfeel) Texture is thin, chewy, peppery. Carbonation adds some crispness. Body is light/medium for the style, shy of medium overall. Alcohol presence is medium. 3.25
(Overall) As much as I try to enjoy Samuel Adams' Witbier creations, I find them bizarrely lacking in flavor and body, and the mild recipe tweaking doesn't hardly make up for the shortcomings. Little White Rye generates a bit of creativity in the largely enjoyable, well-done use of rye, but against a simple, uninteresting pale malt profile, it is less enjoyable than it should be. 3

Cold bottle poured into a pint glass. The beer pours bright clear gold color with bleached white head of 1 cm that fades to nothing very rapidly after the pour.
Aroma is spicy with coriander and a little grainy malt, and a little bit of rye note buried in the nose.
First sip reveals a light to average body with very fine fizzy carbonation.
Flavor is sweet and malty with grain and a little coriander, rolls to some spicy rye, but the coriander and citrus notes stick around and linger after each sip.
The beer is amazingly easy to drink and not overly complex but enjoyable as I work through the bottle.
Something to session or introduce with and probably better on a hot day, but not a flawed beer, just not super interesting.
