12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

A: Pours a straw color ridden with chunky yeast particles. The head is a two finger white shade. It's nicely creamy and retains acceptably. TONS of lacing on the glass, too. But still...the body's a mess.

S: The strawberry notes come through strongly at first. When allowed to open up, slight (balanced) diacetyl and noble hopping comes through, as well. The first few whiffs, though, were ridiculously sweet - almost like it was a strawberry soda instead of a beer.

T: It's got a little more balance than I expected. The first part is where the fruit qualities reside; after that, it morphs into a pre-pro pilsner, displaying notes of noble hops, biscuity malt/yeast, and mild adjunct. Some strawberry sweetness returns in the finish, a bit excessively at times. Nonetheless a successful warm weather refresher, nor does it strike me as being disgustingly artificial.

M: Not as dry as I like my lagers, but it's a fruit beer. It could be a bit less cloying on the back end at least. Still, I like its drinkability. Completely under-carbonated, though.

O: On occasion, I'm a sucker for a good lager. And also on occasion, I'm a sucker for a good fruit beer. This fulfills both quotas reasonably well. At the end of the day, it's rock-solid mindless refreshment, no more, no less. (1,316 characters)

Purchased as part of the mixed 6 pack. 12oz bottle. 5.5% ABV. Pours out to a clear, spritzy light golden, forming a tall poofy off white head with superior retention and lacing in part due to it's brisk carbonation, ~3.0 carbs or so. The aroma is strawberry at an arm's length, but when the nose is put in the glass one gets subtle wheat and hops. Mouthfeel is light bodied and spritzy. The taste is a recap of the aroma with lots of strawberries, a subtle tartness, very mild and very non-descript metallic bitterness, a metallic note in the finish and fake strawberry flavor (like Frankenberry cereal) in the aftertaste. Easy to drink, but I really wouldn't want more than 1 or 2 of these. The combination of the strawberries, tartness and aftertaste starts to taste like strawberry daquiri spit-up. (801 characters)

A: unfiltered honey body, 1 finger white head,
nice lacing

S: fresh strawberries, light earthy grain

T: same as nose, mild grassy veg finish

M: light/med body, dry/crisp mouth

O: Surprised me; still prefer strawberry ale/lambics
but this is quite nice.

GOOD; GIVE IT A TRY! (279 characters)

A: Pours a sediment ridden golden yellow color with a fingers worth of head that gently settles down to a thin cap

S: Lots of strawberry up front, along with a light citrus fruitiness and malts

T: Starts off with a blast of strawberries followed up by a light maltiness. Get some citrus as well, but it is well overpowered by the strawberries. Very clean and surprisingly not too artificial

M: Light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A nice little summer fruit beer that is definitely refreshing, but a little one-dimensional. Recommended for those who enjoy fruity beers and strawberries (601 characters)

Poured a crystal clear golden yellow with a thin white head.

The smell was fresh strawberries and nothing else.

The flavor is pretty much light strawberry with not much in the way of beer flavor. The strawberry flavor isn't bad, it tastes fairly authentic and isn't overly sweet, but still dominates the beer completely.

The mouthfeel is a bit light and fizzy.

If you love strawberries this is for you, if you want beer get something else. (443 characters)

A- pours a clear golden color with a small fizzy white head that reduces quickly, leaving a small layer on top. Some small particles floating around the glass.

S- straight up strawberry. Reminiscent of a strawberry daiquiri, strawberry pie and strawberry purée. A little bit of a pie-crust-like malty sweetness. Smells just as a strawberry lager should.

T- sweet malty notes blends with strawberry flavors that turns slightly astringent mid-palate, the finish is dry with a tart strawberry flavor in the linger.

M- light body with medium carbonation, somewhat foamy mouthfeel with a slick finish

O- pretty refreshing beer for a hot day. Nothing extreme but its just what you would expect a strawberry liger to taste like. The tart notes of strawberry leave you wanting another sip, this one went down quite easily (818 characters)

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a hand glass.

A: Deep golden hue. Pours a 1 finger, foamy, white head. Settles pretty quickly, leaving a slight blanket of foam on the surface. Pretty nice beer ring lacing.

S: Strawberry is very prominent, also some light grain.

T: Sourdough bread, and a little strawberry soda.

M: Light body, has a very soda water-y character to it. Feels very carbonated. Kind of an off-putting, bitter, out-of-place aftertaste.

D: Session style.

Atmosphere fair enough. Dark golden hue, decent foamy head, and some persistent lacing. Nose is strawberry and grain...nothing else. Sourdough bread and strawberry soda, with a synthetic, steely, bitter finish. Overall, this is a pretty good quaff. (720 characters)

Pours a golden straw color with a decent sized white head, bubbles fade at a slightly quick rate and leave no lacing on the glass, surprisingly there are some floaties in the beer for what I would have expected to clear.

Smell is quite distinctively strawberry, quite the sweet fruit aroma, slight sweet malt backing, no hop presence that I can distinguish behind the strawberry.

Taste starts right out with the strawberry sweetness and finishes with it too, for as sweet as it is it isn't cloying although quite artificial, carbonation is nice and high which gives it more refreshing-ness than it deserves.

Overall, not a bad lawnmower beer and considering I'm drinking this on a day that has hit the low 90's, I'd rather be drinking this than the barleywine I have in my fridge (at least until I get the AC installed). (823 characters)

A - Pours a honey golden color with an off-white milky cap. Good retention and lacing.

S - Strawberry candy aroma, strawberry wafers, fruit roll up, light grainy malts underneath,

T - Follows the nose with strawberry hard candy, sweet but not cloying, some grassy hops adds a light bitterness and there's some tartness as well. Pale malts, are light and crisp. Finishes slightly tart with some faint astringency.

M - Light and somewhat creamy, good amount of stingy carbonation, light bodied.

Judging from the name I didn't have high hopes, but this is better than I expected. This is more of a candy strawberry flavored brew. The candy fruit flavor is nice and not totally artificial. A descent summer brew. (715 characters)

Bottleneck reads

05832057

A= Pours a very light yellow color with a lot of floaties throughout the beer. The head is a small white color with some spotty lacing on the side of the glass.

S= The smell is strong of strawberries. Quite nice and refreshing to be honest. It smells like a bag of those freeze dried strawberries freshly opened. The lager smell comes through but there isn't anything interesting going on there.

T= The taste is a bit more subdued in the strawberry flavor but it comes through. It actually tastes like they used those freeze dried strawberries just because the sort of waxy chalky taste that comes through it. It's not bad but it isn't the totally fresh bright strawberries I got from the nose. Again it has the basic lager taste but it isn't really interesting so I'll save myself from painfully finding new ways to describe the flavor of "beer".

M= A nice mouth but I think a little more bright carbonation would be fun.

O= This isn't a bad beer by any means. In fact if this were avalible regularly I could see myself reaching for it early summer. As far an mind blowing or living up to my high expectations it seems little less exciting. A strawberry lager is what it's called and a strawberry lager is what it is. (1,259 characters)

"Dave wanted to create a refreshing summertime beer, something that he could enjoy after a round of golf on a hot day. This lager has a bright and fresh strawberry character balanced with toffee and citrus notes." Brewed in the style of a fruit lager. This is one of the Longshot American Homebrew Contest 2012 winners, released amongst 2 other beers in the variety 6 pack. Available in 12 oz. bottles and on limited draft.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a pint glass. Served above 56º Fahrenheit.

(Appearance) Pours a frothy, foamy pastel white head over a pale amber body. Clarity is impeded by flecked pulpy sediment and a moderate haze. Carbonation is plentiful and energetic. Retention is above average and lacing is light and streaked. 3.5

(Smell) Very syrupy strawberry pulp body with a moderate tartness in tow, akin to strawberry fruit snacks. Very clean but very sweet. Potency is high. 3.25

(Taste) Sugary sweet strawberry fruit snack sweetness, a balancing tartness over a very clean pale and caramel malt body. Enjoyable but perhaps a bit strong on the strawberry angle for some, although I appreciate the balance of tart strawberry character that makes the collective strawberry less artificial tasting, it comes off almost like a mild Berliner Weisse with strawberry syrup added. 3.5

(Mouthfeel) Texture is clean, soft, smooth. Carbonation generates a softer, fluffier texture for a clean, yet filling mouthfeel. Body is medium+ for the style, medium overall. Balance is sweet over tart. Alcohol presence is low and there are few off characters. 3.5

(Overall) Pretty heavy on the strawberry. This would certainly find approval in the macro market and some craft beer drinkers may appreciate this as well, for although it is quite a sweet beer, it manages to present the underripe, tart aspects of strawberries for a better balance and improved drinkability. 3.5

Poured into a tall pint glass, color is gold, not much pink or reddish hues, head is 1/2" thick and light tan, dissipating to a thin top.

Smell is strawberry forward, hard to decipher if it is a syrupy scent as their is decent tartness noted.

Taste is crisp, strawberry fruitiness, tart flavors with a solid toasted malt flavor following. Subtle malt flavors are noted but not sweet - good interesting balance to the stronger strawberry.

Mouthfeel is drying, overall medium with solid lager carbonation.

Overall, interesting brew, too fruity for my taste but decent malt flavors. (583 characters)

Drink by August 2013. Poured into a 20oz shaker pint.

Appearance: Pours a hazy, somewhat chunky amber color. Gigantic, fistful of head due to the aggressive pour... eventually falls to about three, and finally half. Head is pillowy, and the lacing is great. One of the best lagers I've seen.

Smell: Definitely strawberries in there, with a spicy hop note to make things a bit more interesting. Not much depth, but certainly pleasant.

Taste/feel: Definite lawn-mower type beer like the brewer intended it to be. Starts and finishes smooth with a slightly thicker than water consistency. There's a lot of strawberry in this beer, for sure, but it's a mild beer overall. There malts and trace of hops balance it all out pretty well. Virtually no bitterness to speak of.

A respectable beer. I do find it to be a bit light, but then again, that's what this beer's purpose is. A sexy looking beer with a pleasant aroma and flavor. The strawberry flavor lingers, and I enjoy it, as it doesn't taste artificial. Not a great beer by any means, but a tasty one... the ladies and BMC drinkers alike would enjoy sipping on this one, I think. A very good starter's beer. (1,161 characters)

Sampled tonight (9/16/13) and chilled down to 36 degrees in my beer cooler. Pours a darker gold in color with a small 1-finger white fizzy head. Some lacing was seen when sipped. The smell of fresh strawberries is straight forward when poured and with some grain. Very nice aroma. The taste is of course the same with a slight bitter finish. Carbonation was above average hence the streaming bubbles seen rising from the bottom and sides of the glass. Overall, it wasn't bad. (475 characters)

Appearance: Pours a golden honey color with almost 2 fingers of a slightly off white frothy head. Body is hazy with quite a bit of suspended sediment floating in the glass. Left some patch lacing.

Smell: Sweet strawberry aroma dominates the nose. It blurs the line between artificial and natural smelling strawberries. Underneath that there's some light cracker malt, and floral notes. Not complex at all, but still pleasant.

Taste: Light sweetness upfront which carries through to the finish. Again, are the dominant flavor. There's some slight graininess and a hint of grassy hops from base beer, but they're overpowered by the berry flavor.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied, crisp mouthfeel. Medium carbonation. Slight lingering artificial berry aftertaste.

Overall: Slightly better than most fruited lagers or wheat beers out there, but still nothing memorable. I enjoyed this and the other bottle in the Longshot 6 pack, but can't see myself wanting to go out and get it again. (978 characters)

Wow...I can smell the strawberry aroma the second the cap comes off....over done anyone?

Pours like a golden lager.

Strawberry....sugar. Nothing else.

All I can taste is strawberry until there's a weird sorta beer like finish.

Light kinda drinkable if you ignore the flavor.

Pours a clear golden yellow with a medium white head, slowly fading with some light lacing. Aroma is strawberry, some light biscuit malt and grains. Taste same as aroma, mostly biscuit malt and grains with light bitter tones. A light body, crisp with good carbonation. There are some light notes of strawberry flavor on the end. Could use a bit more strawberry but still a good refreshing summer brew. (401 characters)

A- Pours a hazy, lighter yellow color with some somewhat larger floaties in it. Small head that only retains a little while. Lacing is sparse.

S- Light, yet natural and pure strawberry scent is first and foremost. Smells surprisingly similar to a fresh strawberry that's been cut open. Small hints of classic lager malts towards the end of the scent.

T- Starts with a subdued version of the strawberry flavor from the scent. Light and fruity moves into some classic lager flavors, more on the light American lager side than say, a German lager. Ends very crisp with a slight lingering strawberry flavor.

M- Light, highly carbonated, and very drinkable. This is a good session beer as far as weight goes. The strawberry flavor is light enough to drink repeatedly if that's your flavor of choice.

Overall, much better than expected, and a pretty good beer. Wish I would have grabbed more than one of these because I doubt I can find it again. (944 characters)

A - Looked like a lager, a medium yellow with a fair amount of carbonation noticeable.

S - A healthy amount of strawberry up front. The dankness of a lager, subtle hints of hops, and a bit of citrus. Nice smelling beer, if not a bit simple.

T - Suprisingly tasty. The strawberry is certainly noticeable immediately, but it's not overpowering or too sweet. An almost perfect amount of strawberry for a beer that has the fruit in it's name, IMO. Didn't notice it much in the aroma, but malt is noticeable, as is a general fermenty taste.

F - Very refreshing as a quality lager should be. Easy going down and on the stomach. As noted on the bottle, I can certainly invision myself drinking one (or 5 on the golf course).

O - Suprisingly good beer. Flavorful lager that also quenches the thirst. I'd certainly buy this in a 6-pack if it were offered. (851 characters)

Appearance: Pale, orangish yellow. Head remains a thin lace. Quite a bit of sediment floating around.
Smell: Exactly like a strawberry Fruit Rollup.
Taste: Tart citrus and strawberry. Maybe a hint of banana.
Mouthfeel: Very carbonated.

This would have been difficult to place as a lager in a blind taste test. However, the smell brought me back to childhood with the unmistakable tart, dried strawberry whiffs in Fruit Rollups. The taste is tart, and the aftertaste more so. It is predominately strawberry mixed with some citrus, and maybe the slightest touch of banana. There is so much sediment rolling around in the drink, and I find that quite inviting. I probably wouldn't get this again, but I would definitely drink it again. This is a very good, hot day treat. I'm not a fruit beer guy at all, but I really liked this, and really like the fact it was a homebrew. Congrats to the homebrewer. (899 characters)

12 oz. bottle poured into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy pale gold with a billowing white head. Very aggressive carbonation.

Smell: A lot of strawberry up front along with some lightly toasted bready notes and a hint of spicy hops. This could smell very refreshing, but the strawberry seems a bit artificial to me and I'm having trouble getting past that.

Taste: The malt bill comes through a little more here, with bready malt, toasted biscuit notes, and a very mild caramel sweetness. Strawberry is still prominent, but not as prominent as in the nose (and thankfully it doesn't come off as quite as artificial here either). Ultimately there really isn't a whole lot going on flavor-wise in this one, but it's very refreshing, and the strawberry adds a unique touch.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied and smooth with a high carbonation level. I'm also getting a faint acidity, which I'm liking quite a bit.

Overall: Certainly a refreshing beer, but there really isn't anything keeping my interest. I don't see myself purchasing this again. (1,071 characters)

Sorry but this beer is a joke. Obviously sam adams dropped a good deal of artificial strawberry flavoring into a mediocre wheat beer or pale lager. The label says that it was brewed with fresh strawberries and, while it smells as such, there is not even the slightest hue of red. I'm not kidding, if you took one strawberry and dropped it in a 5 gallon carboy you would get 10 times the "reddish" color of this brew

A: Looks like your typical wheat ale, yellow with a slight orange hue. Very little carbonation and a decent amount of sediment.

S: Strawberry fields forever...

T: Like a strawberry...with some bitterness. Too much bitterness, the strawberry craves for some tartness.

M: Thinish

O: Fake, very fake. Very drinkable but not enjoyable. I mean I knew Sam Adams couldn't afford to brew a mass produced fruit beer, but this is way too fake. I wish they could have respected the home brewer enough to say "we can't afford to brew your recipe in large quantities."

165 calories per bottle with 5.5% ABV. The strawberry sent is strong and the taste is definite. The aftertaste is a bit off with the strawberry taste not settling in compliment with the style - there is a minor bitter taste not working well with the strong strawberry. I was glad I tried but would not consider this a favorite. I could probably drink two before felling the desire for something else to help settle. (415 characters)
