12 oz from six pack lured into standard pint glass.

A - Clear, golden orange with a one finger head that moves to a frothy lace. I firmly believe froth and frothy are underused words in today's society and should be used more often.

S- Pine, hops, grapefruit/citrus.

T - Pretty straight head pine, with some biscuit/bread notes and bitterness on the finish.

M- Clean, crisp. Well carbonated with a light mouthfeel.

O - Goes down fast. Not sure how this differs from their Latitude IPA (I'll venture to guess that different hops are used that make it more hop forward), but it worthy of a sampling.

Drank from a 12 fl.oz. bottle
For brewery-fresh taste, drink before month notched SEP 2014
Served in a pint glass
Thanks to my friend James for bringing this to our apartment.

Solid appearance. The beer poured a nearly crystal-clear, medium amber color and was topped by a two finger tall, tight, fluffy, off-white crown. Nice head retention. Thick streaks and odd shaped patches of lacing coated the glass.

The aroma was hoppy and quite pleasant but not very intense. It seemed that the hops were nearly overshadowed by a sweet, caramel malt base. Decent amount of citrus. Orange peel was most noticeable. Some peach and apricot notes came through as well. A touch tropical.

The flavor profile was crisper and drier than the nose and also noticeably punchier. Fruity hops led things off. Crisp and zesty. Citrus notes dominated. Orange peel was apparent. Lots of grapefruit as well. Touch of peach. Subtle, biscuity malt notes kept the hops on check. Grapefruit pith appeared in the bitter, bone dry finish. Some pininess and oily hop notes came through as well.

On the palate, the beer seemed quite thin and fizzy initially. With time, the carbonation settled and the liquid turned slicker and creamier.

This beer caused a lot of controversy simply by its name, and I can understand why. Although it is a tasty and easily quaffable IPA, it is hardly a rebellious, West Coast-style version of the style.
