I have been looking forward to this beer since i read about its upcoming release for a long time now.I was not dissapointed by it,a very good ipa from sam adams that puts out alot of good but not great beers but this one is a little above that.the best ipa sam adams makes imo.
It pours a golden clear color, not hazy or orange like i like my ipa to be but it looks good.pours a good head and a lot of lacing in the glass, the carbonation is what i would call above average for the style but thats just me and is not a knock on it.
Now the smell is world class hops and a little malt, fruity in their too.the smell is the thing that impressed me the most in this beer,an excellent scent.
Now when you drink it your mind might play a trick on you, the smell is so good that you expect the taste to be world class to match it but their is considerable drop off in this department.while still a solid good tasting ipa no where close to the smell.
It drinks light, lighter than the 6.5% would imply.now thats not always a bad thing but with this beer you could get in trouble,i mean a sixer of this and you could be "dude where's my car".not that i would drink and drive but you get the idea.
Overall i love this beer, its a good ipa to have when you dont want to break the bank or your taste buds.drinks easy but has enough bite and substance to keep you honest.I think sam adams hit the west coast ipa theme pretty close and just missed on the taste and appearance.a good beer and worth a try,i will be putting this one in my go to status.

Pours into a nonic a clear medium golden with a sticky one finger white that settles very slowly leaving two broken rings of lace behind as it settles .Mild leafy and citric hops along with some sugary sweetness, both are light.A decent shot of citric hops upfront on the palate along with a caramel biscuit base underneath, the hops are much more fruity than bitter wich surprised me a little. Not bad,it's not something to go spend alot of money on but would be good as a "starter" IPA for somebody.

Presentation: It was served on tap at Fridays restaurant.
Appearance: Rebel IPA had slight chill hazed body with a light golden color. The head was bright white, tall and soapy. It quickly settled down to a denser thin cap which hung on well and made some slick lacing on the glass.
Smell: The aroma has a good dose of citrusy and floral hops as well as some lighter pine like hops in the background.
Taste / Palate: It has plenty of hop flavor and bitterness thought out. Its hop character is mostly citrusy and floral. The malt is light and somewhat bready and cracker like. It really just sets up the hops to shine. I would say that it has a firm medium body and the finish has a nice slow hop bitter fade.
