This came in the winter pack, along with various other goodies. This is the first one I'm trying...
Poured into a pint glass.
Look: A rather good looking beer. It pours a crystal clear copper, with a one finger head that lasted for a couple of minutes before going down to a thin layer, that is still there. Lacing is minimal. (Could be the glass)
Smell: A weird combo of pine and citrus. I've had a couple with this combo before, but this one comes off slightly subdued on both fronts, so it's just a bit weird. Still not bad though. I've never experienced a juniper berry in my life, so I don't know if I'm smelling that or not. I get a bit of the alcohol as the beer warms up.
Taste: The pine and citrus are definitely there. Citrus in the form of grapefruit. It has some malt at the end, but it's not too prevalent.
Feel: Medium/Light in texture. It has mild bite with the carbonation, and little evidence of the abv. Well hidden.
Overall: Nothing stellar on this one, but not a bad addition to the Sam Adams family. I could see me grabbing a six for a bit of change in pace, otherwise, I'll find it in the next winter pack!
