Poured from a bottle into a nonic pint.

A - Pours a crystal clear copper, with a nice three-finger craggy white head of large and small bubbles. Big ringlets of lacing.

S - Extremely mild floral aroma. Not getting much else. A little undefined fruitiness (closer to bubblegum actually) comes out as it warms.

T - Floral hops forward, wafer like malt underbody. Juniper adds even a more flowery note in the finish. Some grapefruit pith and lemon rind also. Overall flavor profile is so mild as to be almost bland.

M - Light bodied with prickly carbonation. Very typical of Sam Adams regular production brews here. Slightly soapy feel.

O - Not a big fan of this one. Flavors just not bold or interesting enough, and the juniper seems very gimmicky and it's addition doesn't really help the base beer. Would not buy again.

Pours into a standard pint glass a clear copper color with a thinner white head that leaves a sheet of lace as it settles pretty quickly.Aromas of herbal/leafy hops and faint pine from the juniper berries,a dryer malt base, pretty pedestrian.Flavors are on the dryer side with herbal hops and pine oils standing out, again ho hum but not a drain pour by any means. The juniper plays a role but the beer is somewhat basic, again not a drain pour just pretty average.

12 ounce bottle. Freshness dating notched onto the side of the label. Part of the sampler box.

Typical almond amber, moderate lite khaki head.Leaves adequate low sheeting a bits of lace here and there. Tons of bubble rising to the top.

Nose makes me think of spruce, ginger and herbal hops.

More herbal hop notes on the palate, spruce, pine, more soapy ginger....decently drinkable, but not my favorite IPA....doubt I would enjoy more then one or two of these...

Appearance: 1 inch head, clear, gold in color, high carbonation

Smell: slight berry, pepper, and pine

Taste: light bread, pepper, and pine

Mouthfeel: slightly bitter with a more bitter aftertaste, light bodied with high carbonation

Overall: A slightly above average IPA. I like the pine flavor, but I would not get this outside of the holiday sampler. Another one of the weaker beers I have seen in the winter sampler over the years. This year's winter sampler is just not doing it form.

12oz bottle at about cellar temp poured into a snifter. Best before MAR 2014 notched.

Pours out a crystal clear deep copper, bronze color, nice full off white head with very nice retention and lacing.

A bit of lighter aroma when compared to most American IPAs. Resinous, piney hops, perhaps some of that pine coming from the juniper with a toasted malt to balance.

Again, quite resinous feel to it, pine needles, a bit of pine sap, I'm guessing this is from a combination of American hops and juniper. Just a touch of a dry citrus hop but it's quickly washed away by a lightly toasted, lightly sweet malt. Leaves a slight spice on the tongue long after the sip as well as a bunch of lingering hop bitterness. More bitter than you'd expect from a same Adams IPA.

Medium in body, decently drinkable.

Not bad for a same Adams IPA. A bit one dimensional.

Copper colored ale light beige head forming thick slightly off white head, forms some nice banded lacing. Aroma has a nice spiced Christmas beer, juniper berries because that is what the label says. Can I actually smell Juniper berries? No but there's a full generic fruity quality lacking quintessential hoppy aspects. The flavors have a bit of hop bitterness, lacks malts or sweetness it's a dry piney, herbal hopped, juniper IPA. Go back to the drawing board guys! As it warms some citric notes make it to the nares but the juniper additions become the highlight on the nares and barely accessible in the flavor profile. Earthy pine and citrus notes fill the flavor of the hop bitterness, it's bad. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a pure bitter dry finish that lacks balance between sweetness of malts and hops/juniper additions. Overall, take this beer and leave it in a 12 pack sampler because you had to produce something new, not because it's actually good. A sad day for Sam Adams!!!

12 oz bottle from the Winter mix 12-pack.

Not the first juniper IPA I've had, but perhaps the best. Contrary to expectation, this was not overly piney or harsh. The juniper was most obvious in the aroma, although citrusy hops dominate both the aroma and the flavor. Relatively low bitterness.

Fine amber color with a decent head. Good clarity.

O: well crafted, slightly distinctive IPA.

Poured a rich, clear caramel with a half-finger fluffy white head that receded to a quarter finger and left ample lacing down the glass. Carbonation bubbles go up the glass. Pretty good looking, very much an IPA. Scents of caramel, some fruity aromas, faint pine and citrus and some hints of juniper berries in the background. A fairly typical IPA aroma, but I like that you can actually detect the juniper berries in the aroma. Taste begins with a lot of caramel malt sweetness, some herbal hops, some citrus, some berry-like frutiness and some very faint juniper berries. These flavors are sustained in the middle. Finish continues with these flavors but adds a bit of a bready malt that continues into the aftertaste, along with a lingering bitterness. A decent East Coast IPA, but I do wish the juniper berries were a bit more prominent in the flavor profile. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly sticky, faintly oily with low carbonation and a slick finish. Quite easy to drink and very true to style. Overall this is a good IPA with a faint hint of juniper added. Its not amazing and there are certainly better IPAs out there, but its not bad and a good addition to the Winter pack.
