Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass.

Deep chili/chipotle pepper red body, not much clarity but you can see just a tad bit of faint carbonation rising. Head is creamy and filled with sheets of a whipped tan light creme like lacing. Three to two fingers tall easily, leaves a thin creamy puck also.

Oh man is this bouquet gorgeous. Sweet and sour cherries. This smells like it comes from a barrel (it doesn't I think), with round vanilla notes and soft creamy milk. Small hints of red hot cinnamon. Just wonderful stuff nearly perfect and gorgeous.

Palate definitely hits at lighter body, but perfectly fine with the malt and flavors to come. First sip fills with Kriek like sweet juiced cherries, giving away to a sour softness. Faint caramel, and a big dry finish. Mineral aftertaste that really lingers, with a light body, almost dry white wine crisp, but not quite brut champagne territory. Sweet and sour balances of cherries, and some milk sweetness, with thick malt body of vanilla sort of missing hinted on the nose.

Overall though it's like a kriek and standard Flanders red ale mixed into one, absolutely great beer love it.

Color- hazy thick reddish brown. Medium but thick head.

Aroma- sour cherry fruitcake.

Taste- Sour throughout starting a but rough but mellowing in the middle finishing with a lingering cherry sourness and a hint of clove on the palate.

I like sours, but I couldn't rate this one any higher given the rough start.

Poured from a corked 750 ml bottle into a Liefmans Goudenband glass (my preferred all purpose beer tasting glass).

Poured from the bottle a deep mahogany color with one finger of rich tan head. Sheets of sticky lacing left behind.

Aroma of canned cherries and sweet caramel malts.

The taste of canned cherries upfront followed by rich caramel malts and light vinegar notes.

Medium bodied and smooth with a lighter carbonation.

A solid Flanders Red from De Proef Brouwerij.

A - - A hazy, opaque rusty brew pours to a single finger head that settles to leave small gobs of lacing.

S - - Earthy wooden tones, acid, cherry notes accompanied by a hint of funk.

T - - A mild sourness is quickly balanced by the wood and cherry sweetness. Touches of pepper and a hint of clove on the finish.

M - - Soft carbonation, medium bodied, almost a little thin. Leaves a residual schmuck in your chops that isn't unpleasant but given the sourness level I wouldn't have expected.

O - - A nicely balanced and minor twist on a classic style, but not altogether mind blowing. Worth a try, I'd pick it up again for a refresher.

750ml bottle with no freshness date poured into a wine glass

Appearance: Pours a red brown color typical to the style. Standard pour yielded 2 fingers of a light beige head with moderate spotty lacing. Body is dark but relatively clear with moderate visible carbonation.

Smell: Balsamic vinegar, sweet cherry juice, light funkiness, apple and a slight lactic character. There's a sugary candy character to the aroma as well, almost like cherry pixie sticks.

Taste: Sweet and sour cherry, vinegar, oak, darker fruit, decent amount of maltiness. Sourness is on the low end.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with medium soft carbonation. Reasonably high drinkability.

Overall: Not extremely memorable, but still a good beer. Not sure that I would get this again, but would recommend as a good beginner beer for someone new to sours.
