Perky flowery scents shine through a dense, honey like aroma. A soapy, uncarbonic mouthfeel carries the type of flavours you'd expect from smelling this mustard-colored brew; Flowers, honey and grainyness. The finish is neutral, but not without it's flaws - An out-of-style, out-of-balance buttery taste can easily be picked up on.

Pours an opaque saturated orange, a finger of foam, spotty lace in the glass.

Aroma isn't all that hoppy, floral with sandalwood traces, and specialty malt. Reminds me of a faded malty IPA.

Sweet with a faint bitterness in the aftertaste. Crystal malt bready caramel sweetness. Medium bodied with a soft carb level. Bready malt flavors dominate, some vague dried orange peel surfaces occasionally. Again, it's pretty malty with minimal hop character. Graham cracker aftertaste. Not especially impressed by this, just showed up and at $15 I'd hoped it would be relatively fresh.

Pours dark gold with a good white foam head. Some lace.

Some herbal notes and mild sweet fruit, tied to a hint of alcohol. The nose on this is nice, but not over-strong.

Good herbal hop presence, with some tropical fruit, but not much. A little creamy wood and a toasted malt bite. This one lays out the bitterness fairly full, but there are just enough nuances to this beer to smooth out the hop bite.

Medium bodied, well carbonated. A good tingle.

Shocked to see this bottled. Really nice and drinkable, with some good complexities.

Served (exlusively) on-draught in Het Watershuis in Ghent, Belgium, into proper Gandavum glassware. I was excited for this one. Reviewed from notes.

A: Hazy orange colour. Decent cream and thickness. God retention.

Sm: Malted barley and hops - mostly bittering hops methinks.

T: Hoppy body. Fairly light in strength. A complex climax is interesting but not as flavourful as it could be. The balance is offset by an overabundance of alcohol in comparison to the flavour, which is lacking adequate bittering hops for the style. This makes the beer built rather strangely for the style, but not necessarily badly. The hops aren't layered per se; they just slam together.

Mf: Entirely too smooth, as though trying to sneak past the alcohol presence. Nicely wet.

Dr: Very drinkable and quite good for the price. There may be a tendency for reviewers to over-rate this beer due to its exclusivity. The dry hopping is more a novelty effect than a significant one in terms of flavour or mouthfeel. Don't go out of your way to get this one, lads. But do give it a go if you're in Ghent. It's worth it just for the pub it's in.

Had on tap at Het Waterhuis Aan de Bierkant, a quaint old style tavern on the river in Gent with a huge beerlist. This is the place to get this beer on tap.

Pours a beautiful thick gold. Like a light caramel. A nice two finger head is a little thin and fades fast leaving a nice lace.

The nose is reminiscent of an American IPA: bright hops mingled with lemonhead candy.

Mouth is very well balanced. Dry hops with honey and a hint of lemon zest complement each other very nicely.

This is very drinkable and goes down fast. Highly recommended for a warm spring day outside overlooking the river.
