This has a little age on it - BBD running around 4/24/2010. Or 2011? Either way...Nice pop of the cork from the C&C 750. Into a Duvel tulip.

Pours a murky honey; slightly treatment plant brown color. Very nice sourdough rye-colored head - at least a full finger of gelatinous, bready goodness. And it sticks around and leaves very good lacing. There's a fair amount of carbonation emerging from the bottom as well.

The Brett is definitely there, as is some deep, dark bourbon funkiness. Pineapple, the label says? Sure, I'll buy it...especially if the pineapple was soaked in a tincture of Maker's and Bacardi. The aging quotient yields ore creamy fruits (apple makes sense). I get a little bit of biscuit and some cherry character too, with a smidge of wheat electricity.

Well, that is comforting as hell. Oily Brett with a little austere funk and almost a Pilsener-ish Saaz hoppiness. Definitely an apple juice feel. Gets tighter and more like balsa wood from an intial creaminess, but not a huge pucker.

This is an enjoyable palate feel but perhaps it's a little all over the place. Some additional Beautiful Chemistry is in order, regardless of how enjoyable this is. The apples get a little heavy after a while and separate the Brett from the body of the beer and the wheat electricity and other flavors.

Goes down smoothly, quickly and leaves a nice funk and alcohol burn with a citric twinge backed by hearty aging and a huge helping of wheat and Pilsener. Heavy straw feel. I enjoyed this.

From 750ml bottle Vintage 2008 into 12oz Tulip Glass.

Poured with a 1/2" head that was tight and stayed around, still having a thin head halfway through. Very nice moderate lacing.

Color was deep golden with mild effervescence and a very clean appearance.

Nose was straight up funk with mild apple undertones.

Taste was not as funky as first smell but still nice barnyard base with dried apple, soft leather and mild tobacco flavors. A touch sweet but still maintained some hop bitterness at finish.

Very nice, rich(for this style) mouthfeel that finished fairly dry.

As the beer warmed to nearly room temperature funk grew more prominent in the flavor and it began to take on slight sour aroma and taste in the finish.

This beer aged beautifully, getting better with each vintage, sorry to say this was my last 08. A real pleasure.

750ml bottle: This one pours a fairly opaque amber color. There was about no head on mine, nor any lacing. Nice nose: bring on da funk! Nice whiff of sour fruits, along with some spices. Earthy notes too. The taste is quite good. Sour fruits dominate the flavor. Some bitterness trying to come up through. Hint of breadiness. A nice beer!

750 ml bottle into tulip glass; best before 4/21/2012 date on the cork. No pop upon releasing the cork, flat beer. Pours a very hazy reddish orange color with no head. A minimal lace cap does eventually show up that lingers; with minimal glass lacing. Aromas of caramel, pear, apple, grape, wood, leather, clove, cardboard, toast, and yeast earthiness. Unimpressive aromas with decent balance and complexity; moderate oxidation makes this a bit unpleasant. Taste of caramel, pear, apple, grape, golden raisin, toast, brown sugar, leather, light wood, cardboard, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, light fruits, toast, leather, brown sugar, cardboard, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Decent flavor balance and complexity; with moderate oxidation flavors and minimal cloying flavors after the finish. Nearly zero carbonation and medium bodied; with a slick and creamy mouthfeel that is decent. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a poor Belgian golden ale due to the oxidation and lack of carbonation. Decent complexity and balance of flavors; but the oxidation makes it unpleasant. I had to drain pour this one, not enjoyable.

Pours a very hazy, golden orange color with a very large, fluffy white head that takes quite a long time to go down. Scent is spicy at first with some delightful peppery notes. Some tart green apples and white grapes with some pear and tropical fruits. A light hoppy aroma with some earthy notes and fresh cut grass. A lot going on in the aroma and a good amount of bretty funkiness...very inviting. Taste is initially brett-like barnyard spiciness. Immediately followed by pears and green apples Pepper with some Belgian yeast and tart apple flavors. Some floral hoppiness with a nice crisp, fruity finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, dry and refreshing. Drinkability is very high. Overall, this is a great beer with huge potential. I wish I had another bottle of this to age, but at the same time I do not regret drinking it now. Very tasty beer.
