A: Golden-straw colored body. Large white head. Decent retention. Spotty lacing.

S: Quite a blast of hops up front. Pine, lemon, grapefruit. Nice, gentle farmhouse character.

T: Like the nose this is quite hoppy as there is a fair bit of pine throughout. Grapefruit and lemon citrus notes shine through. Mild spiciness from the yeast. Soft farmhouse notes - earth and funk.

M: Well carbonatied, medium bodied, nice crispness in the finish. Refreshing with each sip.

O: An interesting and quite nice saison. One of the best new saisons that I've had in a while.

Pours a light orange copper color. Fairly clear despite the fact that it's opaque. The head is bright white and a finger and a half thick. Attractive head with different sized bubbles, good retention and nice lacing when it does finally dissipate.

Slight funkiness in the smell which is appreciated, but it's not strong enough. There is a peppery spice scent that overwhelms anything else that's present. Some IPA qualities with faint pine and citrus notes.

Tastes more like an IPA. A lot of pine tastes, along with the aforementioned pepper. No funky Belgian yeast presence, nor any Belgian sugar. No fruity taste whatsoever.

No sweetness, no funky tart feel, it's all hoppy bitterness and peppery spice. I'd never guess this was a saison, instead guessing it was some sort of pale ale.

Overall, this is a swing and a miss. In addition to not being a very good saison, it's not a very good beer in general. Even after it warms a bit, the smell and taste don't work. Very disappointing, particularly for $13.99.

750ml into a tulip. Pours a crystal clear mid tone pure copper, towering off white retains like a dairy product, excellent lacing.

Aroma is dominated by strong pine and citrus hops, the strength masks the saison below but delicious none the less. After acclimating to the hops the earth and spices below come into shape. With warmth socks appear.

A hoppy saison, very. Again pine and citrus dominates. And again the earth and spices are sensed but masked. A nice dry crisp bite as the aftertaste begins. Ends with the yeast and hops blending, fading slowly. Moderately bitter. Thin to medium bodied mouthfeel.

I imagine this will vary dramatically in flavor with age. The hops will fade and a complexity will be revealed that far exceeds what is delivered fresh. No apparent date on the bottle.

A chilly 750ml bottle is poured into an Oxbow tulip glass.

The beer has a golden copper color and is very clear. The head is initially large (it fills about half the glass), but has settled to about 3/4 of an inch in height. It has a light tan color and is made up of small bubbles. Lot so of spiderwork lacing has been left clinging to the glass as the head settles.

Snowball has a really great aroma. It is funky without coming across as sour. There is a touch f sweetness. It reminds me of powdered sugar instead of the Belgian candi sugar often used in saisons. The dry hopping imparts a grassy aroma. It reminds me of late winter, as spring is struggling to bring some green back into a grey world.

The beer tastes very good. The bitterness is fairly pronounced. It adds a spiciness that I am really enjoying. It replaces the pepper flavors that you sometimes find in saisons. The brett is noticeable, but the beer doesn't taste too funky. It's mild enough to impart a farmhouse feel to the flavor.

The beer has a fuller body than some other saisons I've had. A high number of carbonation bubbles in each mouthful give it a foamy feel. My lips are a little sticky, but it's not distracting. The coat inside my mouth is light, but it allows some of the grassy hops to linger.

I like this beer a lot. I am intruiged by how far brewers can take the saison style. Ther eis also somethign fun about drinking a Christmas beer brewed by Danes at one of Belgium's more famous breweries. If you get a chance, I'd recommend you try this beer.

fourth review, and all of them seem different. here's my take: pretty golden color with a white head that leaves lots of lace. nose and taste are fruity, flowery, grassy hops with a mildly sweet malt backbone, a touch of funk, and just the slightest hint of spice. it seems to be hop-based, not yeast based though. hops are fruity enough to translate sweetness as well, which harmonizes well with the malt profile. medium body that carries a very nice touch of bitter in the back end. a classy kind of bitter that just helps amp up the flavor profile. silky slick with less prickliness than expected for a saison. enjoyable.

750ml bottle served in a Blvd. Tank 7 tulip. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a tall off white head. Plenty of carbonation. Bottle conditioned. Spicy aroma with some citrus. Light bodied. More spice and citrus in the flavor. A bit of a hop bite, but not bitterness. Crisp and dry, just how I like a Saison. Very drinkable, good stuff.

Lively pour, with a bright golden orange color and a ton of carbonation producing a mountainous head that wisps and sticks all over the sides of the glass. The nose is fantastic right after pouring the glass. Floral, grapefruit and just a trace of barnyard funk. This is an incredibly easy beer to drink. The flavors blend harmoniously. There is a solid malt presence that really softens the citrus, funk and bitterness and creates a great overall beer. Plenty of carbonation, but not enough to dominate the palate, in fact it really softens up as you drink it and is one of the best qualities of this beer. Didn't know what to expect with this one, but am very happy I chose it. I will look for this again.
