portion of a 750ml bottle served in a Belgian snifter.
Pours the color of honey; hazy.
Aroma: spot on given the "Tropical Tripel": there's a substantial note of coconut, pineapple, citrus and other tropical fruits plus a Belgian tripel in the background. A subtle trace of oak.
Flavor: the base ale makes a stronger appearance in tasting where it is nicely balanced by the fruits and a hint of coconut. Appropriately sweet but eventually leaves a mildly bitter aftertaste.

On tap at Lucky Baldwins Trappiste in Pasadena, CA.
Pours a murky honey orange with a foamy tan head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, spice, yeast, grape juice, and fruit aromas. Taste is much the same with brown sugar, caramel, spice, and grape juice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a nice fruit presence, but I am not really getting any tropical qualities in the smell or taste.
