Higher percentages of Munich and Crystal malts in our India Pale Ale convey a slightly sweeter and malty flavor. The additional use of these specialty grains help to achieve a bit more body, creating a strong pillar to support and balance the higher usage of hops. The late and dry additions of American hop varieties provide the signature, true-to-style floral and citrus aroma of a seasoned pale ale, pleasing both the hop-head and hop-shy craft beer drinker.

Dog Tag Brewing "IPA"
12 oz. can, no apparent freshness dating
$1.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ
Based on the quality of their "Lager" I was happy to give this a shot, and I'm glad I did.
The aroma displays a rich, doughy, bready, and just lightly toasty maltiness that's well threaded through with piney and citrusy hops, and that carries over into the flavor pretty much exactly. In that way it is a little bit one-sided (or two-sided as it's actually both malt and hop), but it's rich and fully flavored, and satisfying. In the mouth it's medium to medium-full bodied with a bit of a dextrinous side, but that's balanced by an ample carbonation level. It finishes drying as the rich maltiness subsides but the stiff bitterness, piney and earthy hops, and peppery spiciness from the alcohol help it through. Nicely done!

After reading the can Iam happy I bought this today.Pours into a standard pint a medium golden with a thinner but well sustained white head that leaves a few broken chunks of lace behind.Sweet hops in the nose after a good swirl, some grapefruit rind and underlying pine,a hefty caramel malt base as well.A bit watered down with some sticky sweet hops making a push,a caramel base adds more sweetness. No matter what the rating of this beer I would buy a case of it anytime.

Pours a dark hazy orange with a big frothy head. Does leave some lacing. A piney resin smell with a funky backbone in which some orange comes out. Definitely some Carmel, malt and citrus to go along with the pine. Not a huge Difference Ibu. Detect a slight alcohol honey. The finish is tolerable. At $3.99 a six pack at Minhas, I would call this a score! A great way to work in a decent cheap beer!

Appearance : Pours a giant four fingered head, fluffy and puffy and frothy. Off-white in appearance, leaving loads of mega lace on the side walls of the pilsner glass. The body is a mostly opaque peach iced tea color, with about 20% transparency. I like the look of this beer.
Aroma : Typical IPA aromas, no surprises here. Pine, citrus, some tropical fruit rind, and a little oiliness in the smell from the hops. Bouquet is strong.
Flavor : This one follows a bit of a more fruity path, with peaches, nectarines, tangerine, and surprisingly - banana. There are hints of raisin and wood in the distance as well. A very fruity, non-conforming IPA with loads of flavor.
Mouthfeel : Cleansed and light bodied, but as it swirls to the back of the palate it takes on a creamy texture. Ends semi-dry.
Overall : This IPA was a pretty big win. I like this, it's a shame that it's becoming harder to find now.
