Pours a clear dark golden brown with plenty of creamy tan head that takes a while to fade away and laces the glass. Smells malty and a little chocolatey with hints of coffee. The taste is fairly sweet and a little malty. Not as much malt as the smell led me to believe, though. The mouthfeel is a bit watery and a little harsh from the carbonation. Overall, it's pretty drinkable, just because there isn't really any strong flavor there.

I was expecting something like Tooheys old, but sadly a i got a really thin, sweetish and edgy ale. Caramelised sugar flavour, artificial, lacks bitterness and bite, out of this and Tooheys old, stick with Old, this is utter crap.

An average beer, a little sweet, a bit dry. Toffee flavours. Slightly grainy. But saying it's an average beer doesn't really do it justice.
It's a really easy rinking beer, good for sessions, but average for just tasting.

A: A very nice looking beer. Deep brown in colour, medium carbonation. Small medium-tight head. Good lacing all the way to the bottom of the glass.

S: Served way too cold to get much idea of the smell. There was ice forming on the beer taps! What smell I could pick up wasn't too offensive

T: A nice hint of bitterness, although it could use a little more just to liven it up a bit. Quite bland with a very short finish.

M: Light in body, similar to the main aussie macro lagers. Carbonation medium, just right.

D: Fairly easy to drink but not all that inspiring. I switched straight to tooheys old for the next schooner.

Format: a standard 375mL brown stubby with a pretty old-style macro 70's label.

Appearance: pours out a dark brown colour with standard carbonation visible. A small off-white head hangs around for a time before dropping to a thin cap. Looks reasonable.

Aroma: a very light aroma of chocolate, coffee and a bit of toffee. A bit too light, but nince nonetheless.

Taste: again a very light flavour of chocolate and coffee. Far too light in flavour - almost unnoticeable. Why would they not make this strong enough to enjoy these nice rounded flavours?

Aftertaste: what little flavours there are drop away very quickly. There really isn't very much to this beer.

Mouth feel: light in body with moderate carbonation. I think it would benefit from a heavier body.

Overall: an okay beer but ultimately far too low in falvour to be interesting. I'd much rather just have a Tooheys Old for similar cost.

look: 3.5 | smell: 2 | taste: 1.5 | feel: 2 | overall: 1.5

Appearance: red/brown cross. Little head, little retention. Nice lacing however.

Smell: Some sweetness and little coffee. Alcohol

Taste/ Mouthfeel: Alcohol very present. Horrible metallic chemical taste. Very Thin. Some coffee and bitterness in the aftertaste.

Drinkability/Overall: Hard to drink. It was a choir to finish. CUB is known for some stinkers but this is a new low.
