Color: typical lager beer color, simple golden. Smell has a hint of grain, nothing much else. Taste is similar to Carlton Draft; not exactly sure why they make both of these beers. Despite it's name it's lighter than many light beers out there; after finishing, you immediately forget you had it.

I have tried about 6 different beers and I like this the most for flavour, I drink with cooked meals, I don't think I will find a better one.

Light on the aroma, mainly sweet malt and some roasted tones. Looks like a beer should but a bit thin on the head. Crisp, lightly bitter, roast malt backbone. Smooth.

Format: a standard 375mL can with a decent macro label.
Appearance: pours a light yellow colour with plenty of visible carbonation. A fluffy white head drops to a thin cap with okay lacing. Looks better than most mid-strength lagers.
Aroma: not all that much aroma, as expected. What grain and hop there is is very light, but there is still enough to make it better than most cheap macro lagers at 3.5%.
Taste: nothing particularly special, but compared with the majority of cheap mid-strength macro lagers, Carlton Mid has as much flavour as a standard macro lager. Grains and a light hop.
Aftertaste: a touch of bitterness, but for the most part it drops away pretty quickly. A very throw-down type of beer.
Mouth feel: this is the reason that this is my go-to mid-strength beer. It is light in body without being watery, and a medium to higher carbonation that makes this so thirst-quenching in the Queensland heat.
Overall: I don't think I had ever had a beer in a can before moving to Queensland. Carlton Mid quickly became my go-to beer for 30+ degree heat. It isn't going to win any awards for its flavour profile, but it never set out to. At AU$39 for a 30 x 375mL can block and being this refreshing, it'll stay in my list of "Good God it's hot and humid!" beers.
