Bought a sixer in the Hudson Valley. It's brewed under contract in Saratoga Springs. Nice amber color on the pour, head dissipated quickly. Malty flavor with some bitter hops kicking in, with a bit of an alcohol burn. A little rough around the edges, but still an enjoyable beer.

Perhaps not my favorite genre, but an overall solid beer. The malty flavors overwhelm all else - almost hard to detect if there are any hops at all. Having said that, no lingering aftertaste remains, so it actually finishes fairly balanced notwithstanding the uber-maltiness up front.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a Samuel Adams pint glass.

Appearance: The body has a very nice deep orange amber color with good clarity and some visible carbonation. I poured it aggressively down the middle of the glass in this produced are very tall and thick head. It?s head holds on well and makes some slick lacing on the glass.

Smell: The aroma is all about the malt. It has deep malty nose with notes of caramel, honey and whole wheat bread. In the background it get just a slight hint of herbal like and floral hop notes.

Taste / Palate: It has a light to medium body with a smooth softly carbonated feel and the flavor is sweet and malty. Notes of toffee and freash bread crust are up front and present throughout. A very mild hop note adds some balance and some very mild bitterness in the finish.

Notes: I my opinion I get more of an English Mild Ale feel in this beer vs a Pale Ale. Either way it has an English subtlety that I like in this beer.
