Swung by FtB today.... had a flight of 4, then a 32oz "growler" of MK to go... Dinner is in the belly, so it's MK time....

It is golden in color, but quite cloudy and murky. The head, after a hard pour, was about 1" of fluffy, mousse-like foam, though it ebbed rapidly to a thin, fine layer. Lacing, though, was quite elaborate. Aroma has lots of semi-sweet citrus, with a mix of grapefruit, pineapple and tangerine enticing the olfactories. Body is somewhere between medium and medium-plus, and the feel is quite smooth.

Flavor has some toasty malt along with lightly sweet apricot notes. After that a bit of pithy, rindy citrus comes along to balance things out. It leans a bit more to the bitter side at the finish, but the sweetness is a pleasant complement.

Prosit!!

Growler from the source.

Pours hazy gold with a minimal head and retention. Aromatics lead off with pineapple, pear, melon, and sugar-dusted grapefruit. Medium bodied with a silky, textured mouthfeel. Grapefruit pith with tropical zest on the palate. Shades of unripe peach, pear skins, and a drying bitterness. Finishes with a pithy bitterness and zero malt.

Tasty beer but the bitterness is a bit forward on this one and the aromatics are more subdued than other FTB's I've tried.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass. Bottled October 2016.

Frothy topped white head with thick lacing and clumpy appearance. Cloudy body but with tangerine orange glow, and hard to see fine carbonation. Nice looking IPA.

Hop aroma delivers nicely, if subtle and complex. Candied hop florals and fruit. An almost Berry like sweetness as well but takes a little digging to find.

Palate goes for hop punch. Juiced tangy tropics of mango and some pine earthy blast right on first sip. Hits though with quite a bit of sugar malt backbone mixing in the mid palate. A slightly syrupy flavor of sweetness and sugared fruit hops but tolerable.

Decent IPA.

Nice equal balance of sweet malt and over ripe fruit notes from the hops like melon, peach, even a touch of banana. Almot no bitterness. Very, very smooth. Full body. A great DIPA with full body unlike so many hop rorward DIPA that have so little malt backbone.

From the bottle dated August 2016. Sampled on September 9, 2016.

Cloudy orange-amber pour under a delicate, foamy off-white head.

Big aroma of tropical fruit, orange, and pineapple with a hint of white bread.

Medium body with a touch of acidity.

Big tropical, orange, and pineapple fruit characters in the flavor just like the aroma. Lingering moderate bitterness at the finish.

Traded can of heady for a 22oz bottle. Look was hazy / murky. Nose was crazy citrus. Fruity taste with almost no bitterness. Will definitely be seeking out more from these guys.

A - Hazy, golden body with a huge white head that fades but never disappears leaving heavy lacing.
S - Citrus is the main player with various specific fruits (mango, grapefruit, etc.) No detectable malt presence.
T - No surprise here. Citrus from the hops is the main player, but is well-balanced by the malt. Malt is extremely light, but it gets th ejob done. Slight bitterness to end.
M - Medium body, low carb. Finishes very dry.
O - This is an amazing beer. You must seek this one out. Looking forward to trying other FTB brews.

Pours a relatively clear golden orange color with an enormous, frothy white head that refuses to go away. A very nice bubbling effect moves up continuously to reinforce the massive head (lol). The lacing is real.

The aroma is very sweet and tropical with a nice doughy malt presence providing the balance. I get notes of sweet mango, melon, and apricot with just the faintest hint of grapefruit.

The taste is, like the nose, very tropical. However there is a bitter pine presence that wasn't detected on the nose. The malt is still ever present, and honestly helps to produce one of the most balanced DIPA's I've ever tasted.

The feel is medium bodied with high carbonation. The alcohol is just barely present. At first creamy, but a bit oily on the back end.

Overall, very impressed with this beer. It's incredibly well balanced and hits all the notes a good DIPA should. A slight touch up on the feel and this could be one of the elites from New England.
