honestly my least favorite of the extraordinarily unique beers from one of my new favorite outfits. this stuff is dark brown, stained koolaid purple, without much head. the nose on it is fruity from the berries, and really bright from the belgian yeast. grain weight is heavy though, abby malts and brown sugar in nose and taste. the brandy aspect seems odd here. its almost too much fruit intensity for this, it drinks like a cordial as a result. the lack of carbonation only adds to that as well. where the other moody tongue beers piqued my excitement for being so unique and diverse with ingredients but yet real well put together and balanced, this one seems less so, a bit of a shot in the dark that didnt all the way pan out. its not bad, just a little too sweet, flat, and viscous for a dubbel. i need some life in the style, and this doesnt have it. the yeast is also lost to the brandy, maybe over done a little there, but i like, no i love the idea, but a few tweaks are needed to get this one drinking as nicely as their others. still, how cool is this?!

Draft at Owen & Engine.
Saturated orange color, pretty strange for a dubbel. Thin ring of white foam with minimal spotty lace. Sharp clarity, again not to style. Smells like faint raspberry, yeast and buttery diacetyl.
Buttery taste with a mild raspberry tartness. Thin bodied and fizzy, overly yeasty.
One and done, not really worth pontificating about. There are little to no characteristics of the Dubbel style present in this beer, and even the promised brandy and raspberry flavors are mild. Not something I'd drink again.
