Well, it's the only place to go, so I go there when I need to. The service is sometimes very good and sometimes totally worthless.
Sometimes great helpful and concerned people. Sometimes obnoxious people who try to ignore you even if you're the only person there. Oddly, I think these are the same people, just with crazy mood swings. I always feel somewhat unwelcome even on a good day though, like I was just interrupting something very important.
Prices on the web site don't match the store prices. Improperly packaged agave extract triple bagged and still leaking. Sorry, starting to get personal.
Overall, I'm still glad this place exists because I need it.
Irritating that they don't find a way to curb the beetle problem which is very evident if you buy large quantities of malt.
Okay, I like the place better than I'm making it sound. I'll keep going there because there are enough positives. But all these negatives are all too real. Read the other reviews and be balanced. Happy brewing!

This is where I learned to brew 7 years ago. The service was great and everything was explained very well in detail on all the stuff I needed to get started and how to brew my first batch.
They set me up with a nice starter kit and the book "joy of home brewing" which I still use to this day. These guys did me right as a beginner. Always had great service and advice when returning. They also have an EXCELLENT variety of malts, hops, yeast, and everything else you need for any style of beer you may want to brew up. If I'm ever back in Tucson I will definitely stop in for a visit.

I've seen mixed reviews of the service here, and I tend to agree that the service can be mixed. A few of the associates love to help, offer advice, make recommendations, etc., but others would rather just sit there and begrudgingly scan up your items.
They have an incredible selection of hops and WL yeast which is a huge plus for me. Their pre-selected beer kits have been great the couple times I tried them. They always seem to have whatever odd or end I need come brew day. Great place in my opinion.

This store is literally within spitting distance (if you're a pretty good spit) from Plaza Liquors. I had a bit of extra time to kill one day so after buying some beer I wandered over.
This places looks small from the outside, with a very narrow store front, but it is deceptively deep. The actual store runs back perhaps thirty feet, behind that is a large collection of grain buckets and behind that is the mill and whatnot where the action happens.
Nice white, bright and clean atmosphere. One guy working that day, very helpful and talkative. Spent probably 25-30 minutes chatting about beer and brewing with me, though with the store being empty besides the two of us I don't think he had much else to do. He knew his stuff though, I couldn't find a question that caught him without an answer. Said he'd been brewing for a number of years now.
Prices seemed good. Kits ranging from basic barebone kits at $59.99 all the way up to "I want to go home with a kit this morning and have beer bottled tonight" kits at about $170. They sell all sorts of extracts, have a nice selection of grains, beer recipe kits, a fridge full of yeast, etc, etc. They also carry supplies for wine and soda making, apparently.
Nothing fancy, but this is the place to go in Southern Arizona for brewing supplies and advice.

I get most of my ingredients for brewing here, everything's always been very good. Staff doesn't mind talking about your latest brew or theirs, and is happy to measure out however much malt, hops, or grain you need. Good selection of hops in whole and pellet form, and lots of yeasts (mostly White Labs) that the staff has a good knowledge of to help you out when you're still undecided about what to use. Some of the brewing equipment seems a little pricey compared to somewhere else you'd be able to find it, but its a specialty shop, so that's somewhat expected. All in all, thumbs up to BYOB.
