Pizza Port Carlsbad has a pretty nice location with a large eating area and a good sized patio. In order to accommodate the masses of people who come here, a good portion of the seating is picnic bench style. When visiting this location I have seen beer geeks, families going out for pizza, bros going bar hopping, bikers, basically just about every variety of person comes here. Seating is whatever you can grab and there is no table service. The only exception is if you can grab a seat at the bar there is a chance you can get service there. This is a lively place.

There is one line for food and one line for beer and be prepared to stand in a long line for either. The tap list is always rotating, both on the house side and the guest side. Some beers only come in chalice servings, but most are in pints and pitchers. There is always a very good selection of guest taps and always a great selection of house taps. The house beers are as diverse and exciting as any brewery out there, the brewpub of the year at the 2009 Great American Beer Festival is deserved. The guest selection is just icing on the cake, beerwise this is one of the best places to drink. It is also one of the better values out there.

The food is good, tasty stuff. I would describe the pizza maybe as a cross between New York and California styles. Worth eating while you drink your beer, but I wouldn't come all the way here just for the food either. If you don't want pizza or a salad you are pretty much SOL too. I also hope you like eating on paper plates.

Come for the beer, you must. A solid "A" for the beer here, though the rest of the place scores lower.

The vibe and energy in here is always good. There always seems to be a crowd, but especially crowded around meal times, especially on weekend. So busy in fact that the wait for ordering food and grabbing a cold beer can be a real pain. parking out back off street, and on street and adjacent parking lots. Loses points for crowds/waits/parking. Its a seat yourself concept which can be a real hassle with a large group when busy and the beer/food lines intersect. I have never been disappointed by the quality of the food or the overall beer selections. No tasters though or bottle sales, although they do have a bottle shop next door. Video games etc for those inclined. a mix of seating options from park bench style to high seat/table options. inside and more outdoor covered open air options. I have driven right by on several occasions just b/c the line to get in has stretched out the door and you cant tell if its the food/beer/or seating line it can be that chaotic. If you're really motivated, drop the family at the door to grab seating/food line whilst you grab parking. Its in a nice area overall, with tons of other local shopping and a few blocks up from the ocean. Never used the bathrooms so cant comment. Timing is everything at this place. Honestly, I've had a more comfortable and overall more pleasant experience at the nearby Bressi Ranch brewpub. Hope this helps. Cheers!
