500ml bottle from Reillys (£2.29):
A good Irish ale with more flavour than I'd expected, some nice citrus flavours & basic hops worked well together too. Fresh & lively with good caramel sweetness & biscuit that went down well with a nice balance; surprisingly nice stuff.

Pours amber in color, clear, with one quarter inch head. Taste is bread, and amber malt. Medium bodied with low carbonation and slightly sweet. Makes for a clean red ale. Nice to session.

On cask.
Golden amber with a light frothy head. The lacing lasts to the bottom.
Fruit biscuit aroma.
A balance of citrus fruit and malt. Lightly astringent.
A creamy texture and a dry finish.

Not really red; it could just about be described as gold. Clear. White head, and a fairly sizeable one, but limited retention. Smells lovely, almost more in the vein of an American pale ale or amber ale, with a fresh orange blossom aroma (Cascades?) accompanying a very pleasant caramel-brown toast malt base. Apple juice appears as well.
Dry, with a fairly light, almost lager-like texture, this reminds me very much of the beers I cut my teeth on when I was in college, specifically Red Seal and Leinie's red. It's not got as much flavor as either of those, though, but that doesn't mean it's not very pleasant. Tangy citrus zesty hops round out a malt flavor perhaps best described as dilute caramel. A lovely quaffer. Possible food pairings: pesto, tomato-based/Japanese curries, preserved lemon, Reuben sandwich, crab.

Copper red, slight haze, nice fine bead head diminishes slowly with mild lacing.
Sharp hop aroma of citrus, orange and floral with under lying malt and caramel.
Good balance with hops rising above the malt, citric hop bitterness again with caramel and malt undertones moves to a hoppy middle and finishes with a dry bitter taste lingering to a sweet malty aftertaste.
This is a good example of the style with a little extra hop presence to keep us from growing complacent.

From 07/26/14 notes. Brought back from Dublin by my parents. Best by 03-15, 500ml bottle poured into a pint glass.
a - Pours a somewhat murky reddish amber-orange color with one inch of off white head and moderate carbonation evident. Looks good.
s - Smells of citrus hops, fruity malts, bready malts, caramel malts, floral hops, and wheat. Nice nose, hoppier than I was expecting.
t - Tastes of citrus hops, fruity malts, caramel malts, grains, bready malts, wheat, and dough. Again, more hops than I was expecting.
m - Light body and moderate carbonation. Easy to drink, smooth.
o - Overall a pretty good red ale; hoppier than I expected and easy to drink. Would have it again if I were over there.
