Clear copper in color, with minimal head and almost no lace. Very clear. The smell is rose hips with a coriander and pepper note. The taste is a fantastic blend of malt & hops, with a very mild hops note and a sweet finish that really brings it all together nicely. The mouthfeel has a nice body with a bit of carbonation. The drinkability is fantastic. Probably the most drinkable pale ale I've had.

A: Amber body, choppy white head.

S: Floral hops.

T: Not brilliant, but not half bad. Bitter and snappy with some orange peel, floral hops, honey and tea leaves. Honey prominent in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium and about on point.

O: It's faux craft beer but great for something you can pick up at a convenience store in Japan so extra marks.

I had at d.b.a. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

A. It has a dark orange color, and it's opaque. It has a big foamy off-white head with some lacing.

S. Nice citrus and hop scent.

T/M. It has a sensational orange taste. Some mild bitter hops. It's fruity and more on the dark fruit side. A hefty rye like taste in the finish. Smooth with a mild bite.

O. A unique, beautifully fruity blend.

The beer pours out in an amber color with a thin head.

The aroma has sweet citrus of orange, tangerine, melon, and sweet bready malts. Not aggressively pure citrus, but hints of floral notes and underlying hop aroma that is quite Japanese hopping.

The flavor follows with hoppy pale ale notes of citrus, then some middling sweet malt. Lots of grapefruit peel bitterness on the end.

A very competent hoppy pale ale. A good Japanese take on the style.

Poured into a Nostradamus flute glass. Pours a hazy, medium golden amber with a thin white head that still has good retention and light lacing. Mild aroma of stone fruit and light bready malt. Flavor follows, with pleasant stone fruit and lemon, light citrus hops and bready malt. Light to medium bodied with a hint of creaminess. A quite pleasant pale ale; light on hops, but makes up for it with a nice fruity, bready malt. Well balanced.

After the expected shocker that is the macro-brewed Sapporo I thought it best to reset my buds with the micro-brewed Yona Yona Ale, courtesy of Yo-Ho. Japan is a creature like any other in the Beerosphere - the great is hard to find and the crap is exported... if only it could be the other way round. As I contemplate this state of brewffairs the can makes a pleasing *TETCHOK* sound.

Poured from a 350ml can into a nonic pint.

A: Body is an interesting mix of cloudy pink grapefruit and rockmelon, with a firm 0.5cm chalk head.

S: Sweet citrus mandarins mixed with melon hop aromas - a very Japanese spin on a pale ale, and most appreciated after many, many American Pale Ales that have the typical pine/citrus hop aromas.

T: Caramel malts mingle with that sweet mandarin flavour before leading to mild melon, honeysuckle nectar and a light hop bitter finish. Easy drinking APA right here.

M: Mid to light body, light carbonation, nothing challenging with this brew (in a good way!), like slipping into a nice warm bathtub.

D: Well, quite the drinkable APA we have here - hands down one of the easiest I've ever had. Everything is balanced and nothing tries to bowl you over. Some people might call it "too restrained", I call it "harmonically balanced". The biggest negative is of course the price in Australia: prohibitive, if of course you can find it, mine was purchased from The Archive cellars however it would be difficult to find anywhere else in Australia.

Food match: Truly worthy of the Edamame sitting on a plate next to me. Otherwise the subtle characters of this brew are quite suited to the subtle characters of Japanese cuisine, such as Hiyashi soba.

Poured from an 11.2 oz. can. Has a pretty caramel color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, a bit of hops. Taste is good, hops, citrus, lots of flavor, the most hops in a beer since I left the states on vacation. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

Can pour at the 2013 Firestone Walker Invitational held at the Paso Robles Event Center in Paso Robles, CA.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that smells a bit better than it tastes in my opinion.

Can, poured into a goblet.

A: Golden color, slightly hazy. Relatively small head, only the lacing stuck around.

S: Citrus! Hops are present but not overwhelming. Grapefruit, orange, smells really stand out.

T: Grapefruit/citrus hits right away, Hops become more prominent, but are well balanced by the malts. Finish is dominated by malty/bready flavors.

M: Slightly creamy, malty mouthfeel.

O: Interesting pale ale. Smell seems to be hop/citrus dominated but the malts really stand out in the taste. I like it, different than your standard APA.
