This place is awesome. There are a ridiculous number of quality beers on tap, including rotating taps I haven’t seen anywhere else in Indianapolis. The food is very good, with hamburgers and fries way above average. It’s in downtown Carmel which is a very nice town. The only negative thing I can think of is the prices are a bit high. The atmosphere is more restaurant than bar (although they have a very long bar). Which is cool because I can talk my wife and daughter into going to eat while I’m in beer nirvana. Recommend if you’re in the area.

A worthy competitor to HopCat, the Pint Room has a similar concept--dozens of taps, many different styles, a large bar, decent food, acceptable service--and lies smack in the middle of the action in Carmel. We visited on a semi-quiet afternoon during the summer. My wife and I sat at the very long and wide bar. The lone bartender was very busy but as far as we could tell, she didn't miss a beat. There were plenty of Indiana and non-Indiana beers to choose from and for once they were not out of anything we ordered. I had a burger, my wife opted for the Belt (bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato) and both were amazing--in fact, much better than we were expecting. Prices were reasonable. The only negatives, and they are minor, is that it seemed like the bar was stocked with whatever free coasters and glassware they could obtain from the breweries. We had 2 beers apiece and the glassware was pretty worn. Let's just say it was obvious enough to notice, and it makes one wonder, what other corners have they cut?
