one of the two saint patricks day seasonals they put out this year, and i dont like it quite as much as the irish stout on nitro, which might be their finest beer to date, but its a solid example of the style. it looks nice, real deep amber in color, and just a patchy tan ring of bubbles on top. its real clear, glowing almost ruby in the light. the beer is nice, more roast and toast then most of these, not settling for just the caramel and special red malts. there may be some chocolate malt in here, and some much darker crystal, it adds depth and richness and warmth. one thing i really dont get it all in either aroma or flavor is the irish ale yeast, if its there, its lost, likely fermented real cold. it usually has such a bakery smell to it, not here at all, so seems less authentic there, but the malt build is great. i like the lingering sweetness, its not too much. sometimes the dry finish in these makes the beer seem less flavorful. carbonation is an issue with this one, it feels heavy because its not lively enough, but a good beer on the whole. always good to see these guys do more and more new styles.
