bottle dated from december of 2015, four and a half years old now, and something thats been calling my name from the cellar for a long time. i have to say i was a little let down by this, although the folks i shared it with thought it was excellent. they had no experience with casey beers before, so its quite apparent that the overall quality here is still much higher than most, but in the grand scheme of casey beers, this one, by now, is not among the best. i remember some of the other grape fruit stand variants being so grape driven, while here, after all this time, the fruit is faded, fermented way down, more of a grape essence than a grape juice or wine profile like i remember in the others, which i had much closer to their time of bottling. this looks like rose wine, softly pink and shiny, but without too much head. i thought id be more acidic by now, its tart but not caustic, which i guess is a testament to the wild culture they use for these, bretty as much as bacterial, definitely a neat fermentation profile, and the part of this i like the best. i wish for more from the fruit, the tang of the skins is there but the juicy fleshy part seems long gone, and the vinous aspect remains light. its floral and full of minerals, but its almost a ghost in here. still wheaty in taste and feel which i like, and with the uniqueness of the yeast, this is still a cool beer, but i definitely wish i had found occasion to drink it a little sooner than i did. not quite the level of carbonation i am used to in casey beers either, the whole thing seems a bit tired. if you still have a bottle laying around from this date, its not getting any better. this was probably at its peak a couple of years ago, the others were so remarkable, and while the quality is still here obviously, its just not what it likely was...

Splitted 3-ways, Thanks Sam!
Uncleared light red color, what a beauty!
Nose is delightful as well, mix of sweet apple, grape and red berries, can't stop sniffing
Taste well balanced between tartness and sweetness, you get that fruitiness you had on the nose as well. No doubt on the choice of the beer name!
Overall outstanding beer, would totally like to get it again! One of my favorite Casey I've tasted!
