A- Pours an almost pitch black with slight ruby hues around the edges. A big 3-finger coffee colored head rises and shows very good retention before falling to a thin cap. Leaves some decent lacing.
S- Roasted malts, dark chocolate, vanilla, and some black licorice.
T- Just like the aroma. Roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, and a nice hop bite even after a year.
MF- Big, bold, and creamy. Awesome.
O- I really liked this fresh, but with age on it it seemed to tone down the carbonation levels and the amount of bitterness. It's said they changed the recipe (not sure in what ways) but I prefer this over the new/fresh 2011 batch.
