Poured into a Darkness goblet on 6/3/11.
Pours black with a huge mocha colored head that dissipates slowly leaving little head. I would have like to see a little more lacing but the presentation of this beer is otherwise awesome.
Smell is of coco followed by a slight hint of raisins. Also some booze, and a little bit of coffee but not much. Smell is nice but not top notch. There is some sweet maltiness but the alcohol aroma is hurting this on significantly.
Taste is a great balance. I get sweet roasted malt and chocolates up front and then as it moves through you get some dark fruit flavor. The resin leaves you with a bit of choco raisin flavor. The taste is good but not great, nice balance though.
Mouthfeel is surprisingly lighter then most stouts. That lightness leaves it feeling more refreshing then an overwhelming taste explosion. Slight taste of alcohol.
Overall this is a great stout but I think it gets more attention then needed. Don't get me wrong its good but I was expecting more. One of the great thins is that it is light in the mouthfeel and has a slightly subdued leaving this quite drinkable and refreshing.
