A big thanks to number1bum for picking me up a bottle of this. Josh, you have satisfied my fetishes for both good beer and Star Wars, and for that I thank you.
Appearance: The beer pours thick and black into my DFH chalice. There's about a 1/2 inch worth of cocoa colored head after the pour, and the retention is pretty impressive. The head fades very slowly, leaving behind a thin soapy ring.
Smell: Sweet, milk chocolate, slightly roasted with a mild coffee quality. There's a very subtle hop presence lurking in the background.
Taste: Lightly roasted coffee, some chocolate, and a clean slightly bitter hop finish. I'll be honest, it's good but nowhere near as good as I thought it would be given the hype.
Mouthfeel: In this aspect this brew excels where almost no other brew I've had does. Unbelievably smooth and creamy with perfect carbonation and a thick, chewy body.
Drinkability: This is a tasty and highly drinkable stout. I'm glad that I finally had a chance to try it, but I have to admit this beer has left me underwhelmed. The beer is smooth and drinks easy, and there's no hint of the ABV. Unfortunately, there's really no hint of any big flavors either. It's good, and I will probably seek out more in the future, but if I miss out on it I won't be all that upset.
