Acquired via trade...thanks Mikey. 2008 version. 12 ounce bottle poured into a tulip. No abv info is given.
A-Pours a thick, sludgy almost black color. It has a thin dark brown head that dissolves very fast.
S-Not surprisingly, lots of dark malt comes out. It is a mixture of coffee and chocolate. The chocolate eventually dominates the aroma. Touches of vanilla come out as it warms.
T-Plenty of roast malt. The taste reminds me of sweetened coffee that has been spiked with a good amount of chocolate. The vanilla flavor comes out quickly. I get occasional dark stone fruit flavors. Definitely one for those that like a lot of chocolate flavor in their stout.
M-It has a nice mouthfeel. It is thick, but not cloying and is well carbonated.
D-The abv is well hidden. 12 ounces was perfect.
A nice drinking stout. Would gladly drink it again, but wouldn't go out of my way based on how easily obtainable other stouts like Old Raspy are in my area.
