just had to reiterate once more while i drink this how much I love it! this is a big boy!! it's probably the best on the east coast!!
i love living in east haven and being close to this. i can't wait until it is brewed more regularly as i'm very impressed with this beer. it actually does something i did not think i would do. i formerly declared smuttynose big a ipa the hop bomb of the east coast and i think i may have to recoil that statement. I am not biased, although i live closer to this brewery. i am a huge smuttynose fan, just look at my avatar.. anyway i had the pleasure of drinking this out of a growler as well as drinking it out of the can and it is different i must say. they are both excellent; however, the beer seems hoppier out of the can.
A - Poured into a tulip glass and crashed it a bit to a nice 1 and 1/2 inch head. nice spider web lacing throught this. really looks like a good beer.
S - wow the smell jumps out.. even my wife (miss priss) who hates beer said "hmmm" and said it smelled like pineapples. i smell the fresh grapefruit and maybe pineapple, but definitely tropical. maybe oranges, grapefruit, pineapple, etc. but wow!! very hoppy!! for a hop head like myself, i really liked this brew...
T - Again the hops dominate this.. after drinking this, i'm having a big a from smuttynose and there is a difference.. i think this is the hop bomb.. i absolutely love it..
M - Light, crisp, refreshing, but full bodied!
D - Need I say more? i think you can pretty much guess what i'll say here.. i went on a crazy tangent... i love this stuff.. i am a little biased, but only on the basis that i love hop bombs and i think this is king on the east coast..
