Poured from the 12 oz, can into a stemmed tulip glass.

a: Hazy dark gold with a finger thick white head which receded slowly to heavy surface foam and dense patchy lacing.

s: White grape juice, then pine resin, both strong.

t: White grape juice and hop bitterness forward in no uncertain terms. Later hop bitterness dominates the flavor but at first does not linger much on the tongue, finishing dry. Later bitterness seems to cover the tongue. But eventually it mellows out, which many DIPAs do not.

m: Medium, good body.

o: Impressive DIPA, lots of fruit flavor under powerful hop bite.

Very nice beer - should be Heady Topper, Pliny, Stone Ruination category.

Appearance - could not see it, drank it from the can (yes, I know do not drink an IPA from a can) so I gave it a 4.5

Smell - spectacular very nice floral, citrus smell

Taste - again the Hops rules - Alpha acids are very predominate.

Mouthfeel - sorry it went down too quickly but what I could tell a crisp nice feel.

Overall - doesn't the top line say it all. excellent

This guy was introduced to me a few months back. To say I'm hooked is an understatement. I've had many "proclaimed" great dbl's and The Bot still stands alone. Murky appearance? Forget about it! This is a great beer and I feel spoiled living in CT w/ this great little gem of a brewery being so close. This is my go to "premium" beer and always will be. Cheers!

Finally got my hand on a 4 pack of this last night while traveling through CT. Drank one last night. Amazing. Time for my review of the second one.

A: Bright orange, hazy-opaque. Nice head. Good carbonation.

S: Mango, pineapple, papaya, pine, and resin hit the nostril like a brick to the face. Wow!

T: Huge fruit flavors up front: mango and pineapple are most dominant. Nice pine and strong resin show up towards the end of the sip. Good malt backbone. 8.8% alcohol is undetectable. Citrus lingers on the palae.

M: Medium bodied, very smooth. Bitterness throughout balances the ABV. Bitterness last quite a while. Nice.

O: Very, very good DIPA that has lived up to the hype. Hope to find another 4 pack of this soon, because I doubt these last two beers are going to last the day.

Poured out of a can into a snifter.

Aroma
Bubblegum, pineapple, dank fresh and citrusy hops.

Appearance
Dark gold, tinges of orange and amber. Opaque. Thin creamy white head quickly dissipates; lacing lasts on the side of the glass. Low to moderate carbonation.

Flavor
Hop bitterness and flavors lead the way. As is not uncommon in highly-hopped beers, it is difficult to detect a distinguishable malt flavor, although it's no doubt there due to a quick venture into sweet flavors before once again being pelted with hop flavors and bitterness, which returns at the end and leaves a lasting impression in the jowls. Despite this being a double IPA, the flavors feel well-placed (not overly hoppy while still having a great hop presence, if that makes any sense.)

Mouthfeel
Mostly medium-bodied, although the hop bitterness makes it feel a bit more full. Smoothly slips over the tongue.

Overall Impression
It's a great double IPA. Hits its marks on aroma, flavor and mouthfeel. Very drinkable, and the 8.8% is hidden well up front. If I was a douche bag (I'd like to think I'm not), I'd dock it for being opaque. It'd be nice for the head to stay around a bit and to have a bit more carbonation to continue surfacing the nice array of hop aromas throughout the glass.
