I got this as a random choice. I've never had a beer that you remember so vividly until now.

Served on tap in a tulip glass.

A: solid hazy golden color.

S: VERY hoppy, almost lemony notes in the smell alone.

T: Piney, floral and citrusy, with peppery hints after. Hop heavy beers like this, absolutely delicious.

M: Had a bite to it, but not overpowering to the point where you didn't want to keep drinking.

O: impossible to find in cans nowadays, but few places have it on tap. One of my favorites. 5/5

Thanks to Brian for bringing 2 cans of this to me in CA from his CT home.

Poured an orange yeasty suspension, even after the trip good resiny head about 3/4" in a cool not-frozen pint glass. Sometimes DIPAs never make the trip in their virgin state, and the citrus has been compromised by overtones of decaying veggies. Not this one.

He is rightly excited that certain brewers in New England have properly executed the west coast IPA/DIPA styles. Certainly I knew of The Alchemist and Hill Farmstead, and of course Maine Beer Co and Smuttynose -- but aside from the Heady Topper this is the first one that grabbed me as comparable to Alpine, Port, Alesmith, Kern River, or Russian River. I'll be stopping in another state besides VT next time I'm back east.

Poured a hazy copper hue with a one finger frothy white head. There was very good retention and lacing.

The smell featured balmy tropical fruit and pine with a light sweetness.

The taste consisted of pineapple, pine and a touch of citrus atop a full pale malt sweetness.

The mouthfeel was full with a strong residual hop spice.

Overall a superior DIPA.

Thanks CTJman for this one. Resinous, sticky pine and papaya on the nose. Juicy hop load as you would expect of a better DIPA: Sourdough, pineapple notes sink into an oozy malt. A clean bite of hops power washes your tongue for the finish and prepares you for the next sip. This is a very good DIPA.
