Belgian strong in a can, woo! 668 pours a completely opaque, golden-amber color with some lighter, sunburst orange in the center. It's capped with a creamy, slightly off-white head that has decent retention and leaves a very small amount of spotty lace behind. At first, there appeared to be some sediment, but upon further inspection, it was just small carbonation bubbles rising up.

The aroma is densely packed with floral and peppery hops. Belgian yeast is also heavy in the forefront, and I don't think anyone is surprised by that. Clove and peppermint spices round out the edges along with a hard-to-discern, sweet and almost tart fruitiness. Overripe banana, pear, and some other fruit I can't quite put my finger on. Very unique aroma, pungent in its own right with plenty of stuff going on.

A bouquet of hops jumps out from the first sip - a nice banquet of floral, flowery, and leafy flavors that caress the tongue rather than thrash it. Some light ashy flavors couple with some bubblegum-like spice from the yeast, right alongside a strong helping of coriander and clove spices. Bitterness gets a bit stronger towards the middle, but never gets "high". Phenols are mild - actually, very mild considering this beer is 9% ABV.

The fruit flavors seem a bit muted at first when compared to the aroma, but they start to come out a little more as 668 warms up. Mushy banana, crushed pears, and maybe even a slight hint of grapefruit rind. Tiny amounts of Candi sugar are present in the finish, leaving your mouth with a soft sweetness. Medium bodied, snaps the tongue with high carbonation and a wet mouth feel.

Decent Belgian strong ale, but nothing to go crazy over. Way too easy to drink for 9% ABV, though. Tasty and unique although some of the hop and spice combinations are a little less than desirable for my taste buds. Still a good beer, recommended to fans of Belgian-style strong ales.

Generous extra from woosterbill. Cheers!

A - Pours a hazy orange-brown with a lot of fine suspended yeast and one finger of white head. Head has decent retention and leaves a nice display of lacing.

S - Aromas of apple, pear, pepper, clove, banana and bubblegum. Somewhat sweet aroma of candi sugar, Pils malt. Faintly grassy hop aroma as well.

T - Rather fruity, with apple and pear. Candi sugar, Pils malt. Faint amount of pepper and hop. Finish has quite a bit of spice and a dry bitterness.

M - Medium mouthfeel starts out a bit sticky sweet and finishes dry, earthy, and a bit herbal.

O - A little sweeter than I want in a BSPA, but still quite tasty. I would take Duvel over this, but I would happily drink this again.

Can share at Proof courtesy of Masterson. Head!!! Pours a slightly hazy pale yellow with about half an inch of head just in a rocks glass. Head lasted extremely well. Great lacing. Thick white collar once the head did fade. Sweet grassy aroma with some clean earthy hops. Taste is similar with a touch of funk. Medium to high carbonation and medium body. Very enjoyable.

16 ounce can, without any freshness info available.

Quality beer in cans...bring it on!

Pours heavily clouded, light tangerine. Large eggshell head, leaves all sorts of ringed and patterned lacing.

Fruity nose with pineapple, melon, orange in the foreground, candi sugar and yeast in the rear.

Well crafted with the 9% nicely hidden. More candi sugar, mild citrus and tropical fruits floating in and around. Fresh, flavorful and pleasantly fruity. A hint of gin and lime flowing from the alcohol. Well done and well worth seeking out. Going to get more of this one next time I am in Conn., might even be worth a special trip cross the border (thankfully only about 30 mins. from my house)

Great addition to the other nice can offering(s) from NEBC.

Poured into a Chimay chalice

Appearance: orange-yellow in color, cloudy, 1/3 inch head that fades quick, moderate carbonation

Smell: sweet candy and tropical fruit

Taste: pineapple, candied sugar, coriander and other Belgian spices, with noticeable alcohol

Mouthfeel: sweet start with a bitter alcohol backbone that mixes well into the finish, medium-high carbonation, light bodied

Overall: A good Belgian Ale with lots of burn. One per sitting. I do like this but think I would enjoy it more with a little less heat.

Poured from a can - golden color with a nice head. Very good lacing down the glass. Went down rather easily for a Belgian strong. Almost too easy. Good buttery mouthfeel and just the right amount of spiciness. Wish that I was able to get this more often - but then again, I might be in trouble if that was the case! Simply fantastic - a definite must try if you haven't yet!

12 oz can at fridge temp poured into a tulip. No freshness info.

Pours out a light cloudy golden color, about one finger of white head with some very nice retention and sticky lacing.

Warming, sweet candied grain, Belgian yeast, bubblegum.

Classic Belgian strong pale, bubblegum, sweet sugary grain, light Belgian yeast phenols, grassy hops, just a slight tingle that let's you know the ABV.

Medium bodied, goes down smooth and easy.

A pretty spot on example of the style. This beer out of a wine barrel is probably something to behold.

16 oz can picked up from Amity Wine and Spirits

Pours a dark gold color, fairly clear but upon closer inspection it reveals a little bit of floaties. One finger egg white head leaves ok lacing.

Smells of sweet candi sugar and some belgian yeast.

Aroma understated this beer, very complex belgian. Starts sweet but not overly bready from the malts, lots of spicy belgian yeast give off notes of clove and pepper. Finishes sweet with a touch of fruit ester, alcohol isn't overpowering by any means but it is a little warm.

Slightly wet mouthfeel, medium bodied.

Very drinkable, but after a 16 oz of 8.8% Belgian I'm not looking to drink much more. A supremely well crafted Belgian by the pro's at NEBCo, cheers!
