i guess there is a reason there are so many peach beers in colorado, we grow some of the best peaches in the world, so why not use them. capture the summer and this excellent source of fermentable sugar. the problem is, there a lot of lackluster peach beers out there, and while this is a shade above the masses, its still not that great, not definitely not up to the level of the best beers these guys make. the best part is that the peach flavor is real authentic, and it dominates. not like biting into a peach, but like homemade peach preserves. it has a mild spice profile too thats complimentary and way int he background. the problems for me are twofold. for one, its just way too sweet, this needs a lot more time in a fermenter for me, sugary, a pint was hard to finish for that reason. secondly, it is really flat from the tap, or at least it was at freshcraft, and that doesnt fly in a sweet beer that isnt named barleywine. i wish they attempted to do a little more with it. hop it up, make it a brown, do something other than the obvious, but they didnt. still, i like the flavor of the peaches and i like the name. i also really admire what these guys are up to in general, so they get the benefit of the doubt on this one.
